Welcome Back!

Welcome back to CMS! I hope all of my new students had an amazing summer and are excited for the coming school year. This summer, I traveled to Asia for the first time and visited China, Thailand, and Cambodia. It was an incredible experience not only to see so many fantastic historical sites I've spent years learning about, but also to observe other cultures first hand. From trying to speak basic Chinese to taxi drivers and shop owners, to sampling the delightful (and sometimes strange) cuisine of other countries, I had a life-changing trip I will always remember.

Now, it's your turn to tell me about your summer. Did you travel to far off destinations, or simply enjoy the many beautiful places San Diego has to offer? What types of activities did you do: sports, sleepovers, movie days, camping, etc.? When you reflect on this summer, what will you remember most fondly? No matter what your summer experience was like, good or bad, I want to hear all about it!

  1. I did many things this summer, inluding traveling outside of California. I went to Cabo San Lucas and stayed their for 2 weeks. I dived for the first time, and saw many sharks and pufferfish (I got to hold onto a live pufferfish). When we came back I did Junior Lifeguards. After that we went camping, and saw 4 bears! Whats more is that my 13th birthday was over the summer, and I got a new surfboard! When I got back to school I was also happy because my brother got in CMS (its the first time we have ever been in the same school before). I can't wait until next weekend, because my family and I are going for the first time with an RV, and our dogs! Overall my summer was great.

  2. This summer I took a cross-coutry move with my family. We pretty much moved from one side of the U.S. to the other. When we got to here, our house still wasn't ready for us, so we've been moving around from hotel to hotel and friend's houses to friend's houses for about a month, just waiting for our house to be ready. It really hasn't been all that fun, (except for when we stayed in Disney Land for two nights) but in a few days we'll be in our house and all settled in. I can't wait to finally be officially living here in California and start making some good friends.

  3. Over the summer i didn't travel anywhere, although I did have tons of sleepovers with my friends. I went shopping at the mall, and gave my dogs baths too. Most of the time, though, I was at home packing for our move to coronado. The best thing I did this summer was stay up all night with my best friend, and did a ton of pranks on people. I went to a few night parties back in San Diego as well that were fun. We hung out at the pool and just talked all day sometimes. I got a new phone in July, so I could keep in contact with all my friends. Overall by summer was pretty good.

  4. This summer was one of the many summers I will never forget. I moved from Colorado to California which was a long way to go. I also hung out with all of my friends who threw me a going away party with a hot pink limo! I also went to Texas with my dad and brother for a family reunion and most days the temperature would reach to 105. Once I finally arrived in California, my family and I went to visit all of my realtives and we also went to the beach quite frequently. I also got a brand new bike, so I rode it a lot too. Further more, I add a very exciting, yet busy summer.

  5. Over the Summer, I stayed at home, in Coronado. I hung out with friends a lot, almost every day. My friends and I had a few sleep-overs, walked around Coronado for hours each day, and we had a lot of fun. Every day we were together, we walked for hours, then ate lunch at places like, Subway, Burger King, and Taco Bell. We could stay out for hours, just because we were together. We had an awseome Summer. It was very fun, and my friends are awesome. we could have fun without having anything to do, but be around each other. I hope I can still do the same things during this school year, and next Summer.

  7. This summer, I did Junior Lifeguards for the first time in Coronado. I had fun with that, and when I was done, I went to summer camp, where my team won the recreation competition. I also spent time with my grandparents for a week, where my grandpa took me fishing. I caught a Rainbow Trout the size of my arm! I came home, and just hung out around the house. Since it was hot, my family and I went to the movie theaters alot. We went to the beach a few times, including the day before school. I didn't travel outside of California, but still had alot of fun.

  8. My summer was jam packed with exciting things (so much for a relaxing summer)! I spent most of my days practicing rhythmic gymnastics, and those few days I was not practicing, I was at competitions or on vacation. I practiced day after day for four to six hours each day. Why? I was preparing for National Championships. National Championships is a huge, huge competition for only the best gymnasts in the country. You must qualify at another big competition in order to get there. I qualified which meant I had the chance to make my goal for the year: to make top twelve which would make me an elite gymnast. I worked hard enough and (with a little luck) I made it! I got eleventh place qualifying me for elite! I was ecstatic. After National Championships, my family and I went on vacation to celebrate a good competition season. We went luxury camping (A.K.A. “glamping”) just north of Santa Barbara. It was amazing! At night, you could see so many beautiful stars, and during the day, hiking and biking were among our favorite activities. I even got to feed llamas, donkeys, and goats! That was my busy, busy summer.

  9. Overall, summer this year was pretty nice. I was in China (like Ms. H) visiting my grandpa and had lots of fun while staying there for 2 whole months. I saw a LOT of new movies such as Harry Potter 6 and Transformers 2, as well as the new Terminator movie and G. I. Joe Rise of the Cobra. I was also in a swimming training program that greatly helped improve my speed through water. I learned to ride a Ripstik very well, and, since I had no bike, used one to travel to most places that I needed to go to. The highlight of my trip was traveling with my friend, our moms, and his cousin on a three day trip to world famous area of Lijiang City, where the one of the three sources of the Yangtze River, the Golden Sands River, passes through the narrow canyon of Tiger Leap Gorge. Though Lijiang City was struck by an earthquake in the year of '96 and caused part of the gorge and most of the city's buildings to collapse, the gorge was still beautiful and grand as ever, the toppled rocks beneath the water making the river run uphill in some places and then come crashing back down with brutal force, making it even more amazing to see. The most exhilarating part of this trip was being able to motor-raft down the river and while traveling at hi speed, dip my head underneath the cool, refreshing water. After this awesome journey of ours, we returned to our home in Kunming and I prepared to come back to San Diego, where I spent my last week of summer going to parties, get-togethers, and watching more movies....

  10. Over the summer I did so many fun thing! The 1st thing that i did was just hangout with my BFF, we had so much fun. We have so many storys to tell all of our friends! Then in july, my family and I went to a camp called Wapler kids. My neighbor Steve has a camp for children in wheel chairs. He went to this camp when he was younger, but it closed and when he got older he opened it up again and named it Wampler kids. I love that Mr. Wapler(thats what i call him) does this for these kids. The kids dont even have to pay to go. Mr. Wampler has an event every year to rase 850 dollars per child so they can go to camp. I am so thankful that i got to be able to go this summer because I loved helping all these kids! After coming home from camp I did the same thing I did at the start of summer. I just hungout with my friends. One other exciting event that also happened was my birthday, augast 19th! I got the coolest present ever! It was a mini laptop. It was the smallest laptop that i had ever seen. I love it! That was sadley the end of summer and i enjoyed very very much!

  11. This Summer I went to Venice beach with my friend. We stayed their for 4 days. We stayed with her moms friends, who is from England. It was really cool staying with them because we got to hear all their English terms. We would always make fun of them because of their accents. It was really interesting listening to their different pronunciations. I had a lot of fun their, and did a lot of shopping! Besides that, all i really did was hang out around Coronado with my friends. Went to the beach, jumped off the pier, swam in the fountain, roamed around town. The usual. My summer was really fun and i really enjoyed it.

  12. My summer was filled with family get togethers parties, and weddings. I started summer off by picking a dress to wear for five different weddings. The first wedding was my Mom's friend, then my uncle, my Dad, my Dad's friend, and my cousin. All of those weddings happened in one whole week. Now, whenever I hear that we are going to a wedding I sigh and say “yay”... (Sarcastically) After that week I stayed at home and slept. Then, my Dad picked me up from Coronado because we had a family get together in Los Angeles. The get together was at my uncle's house, there was about thirty five of my family members there...IT WAS CRAZY. For the five weeks I stayed with my Dad’s; we had lots of birthday parties. It was my half sister, my aunt, and my Dad's birthdays. Most of the time during the parties I hung out with my cousins... well watched them because they are all younger than me. When the five weeks were over with my Dad, I went back to Coronado and hung out with my Mom. The rest of the summer all I did was relax and waited for the first day of school.

  13. This summer, I did a dance camp at Coronado School of the Arts. We were able to do many different styles of dance. When I was done with that, I moved into a new house. That process took most of the summer, so i did not take any big trips. My "big" trip of the summer, was going to Disneyland for three days. We spent a day at Disneyland, a day at Califonia Adevtures, and a day at Downtown Disney. Besides my trip, I went to Los Angeles/ Beverly Hills with my friend for a day. We went shopping on Rodeo Drive, Melrose, and the Garment District. After shopping we ate at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. To our suprise, it was good. Over all my summer was pretty good.

  14. Summer has always been one of my favorite seasons. But this year’s vacation from school topped any previous breaks. First off, my friend Hank visited from his home in Colorado. I spent eight whole weeks with him, doing everything from sailing to going on insane roller coasters at Knott’s Berry Farm. In terms of travel, I was rather limited this summer. However, my family did take two weekend trips to Palm Desert, where we beat the heat at a giant water park at our hotel. But what would a summer vacation be without a trip to the beach? I spent several days at the shores swimming in the beach and pool today. While I am happy to be starting a new school year, I regret that my wonderful summer has ended.

  15. This summer I didn't do many things. My dad moved to Japan and the most exciting thing I did was not exactly for a good cause. This summer my Grandpa died it was a horrible thing but I think I might e immune to the pain that comes from losing a beloved one since so many of my loved ones have passed away. Once we found out that he had passed my mom and I packed and went to Puerto Rico. I guess another reason of which I am immune to the pain is becuase I have such a wonderful family that no matter the situation they always find a way of making me smile. My whole sumer way a dule and boring misadventure but the last week of summer was filled with painful losses, stress filled traveling, and of course my annoying family which I love and miss so much. That was my summer.

  16. I went to a summer camp in Wisconsin for three weeks. I went there with a friend so it was really fun. We enjoyed most of the activities including sports, water games, arts and crafts, and more. I went to Mexico for two weeks. I saw a bunch of my friends and we threw an oscars night party, it was really fun. We had sleepovers and we would almost always hang out in one of our houses, so we saw each other every day. When I returned to Coronado I went shopping and ice skating a lot. One of my best friend came to San Diego so I saw her every day for two weeks straight. She would come over, or I would. We went to the beach, listened to music and shop. My summer was really fun but I wish it didnt end.

  17. My summer this year was all revolved around what was going on around me. Since I live in Bonita I was very limited as to my options of activities. My summer didn't start too well because, I had broken my toe three days before the last day of school. So, for the first week and a half, I was in bed watching t.v., playing video games, and sleeping with my foot up. Even after that, I was limited to going to the Plaza Bonita Mall, staying at home with my annoying, older brother, playing outside, and sitting in the same spot I woke up in. The second week of school came around, and I had to do something. So at one of my family gatherings, my uncle had suggested that me and two of my cousins should go to his place of work, Universal Studios! I was so excited to go, so I convinced my Mom to let me go. I had a great time on the three day vacation.. We rode the rides, saw the shows, and had a great family bonding time. The most memorable thing of that trip was our contest to see who could stay up the longest. I won staying up for two days and eleven hours. When I got back home, everything was the same boring routine every day for two weeks. I tried to keep myself entertained by hanging out with my brothers friends, but that wasn't all that exciting. My mom had told me before summer that i wouldn't be staying at home all the time. So, she signed me up for the South Bay YMCA Teen Camp. It was pretty cool because there was something cool we did every day like paintball, laser tag, going to the movies, etc. My whole summer was pretty much watching movies, like when i saw the Harry Potter premiere. It wasn't a good movie, but i had a great time. The camp ended slowly like my summer, because school was getting closer. I started to hand out with my friends and did more activities around the Bonita County, like Community volley ball. Summer had ended and i had a blast. It seemed like it came and left far too quickly, but it was a summer to remember.

  18. I had a pretty nice summer.
First I went up to Alaska to see my Grandma and Grandpa. Then when I came back to San Diego I went to wild CSI camp where I extracted DNA and found out what it belonged to. Shortly after that I celebrated my Mums birthday. Then I went down to the sand castle contest. After that I went back up to Alaska to see my grandmas Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival. It was a great festival. Then I came back down and had some play dates and then school started. That was my great summer.

  19. This summer was pretty cool, i hung out with my friends, and went to my aunts house for a few weeks over a period of time. When i was with my friends we hung out at my friends houses, and also on the last day of summer we all went to the bay and some of us jump of the peir and some of us just hung out. The worst part of my summer was half of my summer i was grounded.:( other than that i loved my summer:)

  20. Overall, my summer was pretty calm. I stayed in San Diego the entire summer just taking in the sights. I went all over Coronado and saw everything there is to see here. I spent much of my time swimming and hanging out with friends. Me and jake had a lot of fun from swimming to hanging and even to playing football. At the beginning of my summer i was in a cast. I was in a cast because i broke both the bones in my arm. It felt so good to be out of that cast the first i did was go to the beach. Also, one of my best friends moved to Virginia i barely talk to him now because his phone got taken away. When he moved i was kind of bored but then people started throwing parties and i was partying every weekend. So all i reall did this summer was swim, hangout, party, and play a little football. Overall to me, my summer was great

  21. This summer i did a lot of camping. To kick the summer off, I went white water rafting the weekend after school got out. It was a lot of fun. Next, I went on a week long leadership camp with people around the county that i didn't know. We did a lot of cool activities there. I also had a chance to stay at a resort lodge up in the Sierra Nevadas. They had all kinds of activities from horseback rididg to hiking to fencing and everything in between. The last camping trip i did was a week long camp in northern Catalina. It was beautiful scenery up there. The last day some of us got up to do a 5.5 mile hike at a 60 degree slope at 3 in the morning to see the sunrise. Overall my summer was a blast.

  22. This summer I did several exciting things. In the beginning, my best friend from New Jersey came to Coronado and visited for a week. We did many fun things including going to the beach, going to Soak City, and sleeping in! After she left, I spent most of my time going to the pool, reading, hanging out with friends and family, and relaxing at home. At the end of July, my family and I always go to Minnesota where we stay at our lake house to visit family. We were there for two weeks doing fun activities like tubing, going for boat rides, going out to eat, and seeing family and friends! When we got home I started getting ready for school again! My summer was great and I can't wait for next summer!

  23. I had a great summer this year. I spent most of my time hanging with my friends here in Coronado. I did many things off island as well such as soccer and shopping at the mall. Although Coronado and San Diego are wonderful, the highlight of my summer was my trip to New York. I started my adventure out with a 5 hour long plane ride. Once I got there I saw many famous sites such as, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State building, Ground Zero, Elis Island, and the Chrysler building. Then when we had to take the plane home, there was something wrong with it and we had to be ground. Our plane ended up arriving at 1:00 in the morning, but it was an adventure. That was a great trip, and the only bad thing was I got sick the last 3 days of it. Summer was super, too bad it isn't longer.

  24. I had a lot of fun this summer. First, right after school got out, I went on a cruise to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. That cruise was really fun partly because of the entertainment and partly because of the all you can eat soft serve ice cream! The entertainment was great because the cruise director was very funny. Also, I went to a gymnastics camp called Wood Ward West. I went with my whole team and met an amazing gymnast. Her name is Jen Hansen and when she was in college, got got twenty-eight perfect tens! She taught me some amazing things and I learned a lot. Since then, I have been hanging out with friends, having sleepovers, and hanging out with my family. My summer was amazing!

  25. Over the 2009 summer, i had an ecstatic time doing pretty much nothing. The main part of my summer was hanging out with my friends and having a ton of sleepovers with the same person. My cousin also came to visit my family and i had a miserable time trying to entertain her because she is in 11th grade. Another thing i did that was super awesome was going to Knotts Berry Farm. There, I rode a gigantic roller coaster called the accelerator in the front seat with my best friend. I also went to Sea World a couple of times during the summer. When I didn't have anything to do, I just stayed home and helped my mom babysit. Towards the end of my summer, I started cheer leading. Doing cheer is the most exciting activity that I did besides going to the beach or walking around Coronado with my friends. Going to Spreckles Park is very fun when you swing on the swings. This may sound like i had a busy summer, but I really didn't do much. I hope i can have a memorable summer next year when I go visit my friends and family in Ohio!

  26. This summer I didn't get to go on vacation out of the country but I sure did have some fun here in Coronado such as: swimming, riding around town, and let's not forget my birthday. I had so much fun especially the birthday part. I got to celebrate at Soak City with all my closest friends and family. I had a blast there; I can still remember going down all those big slides and having the water splash my face! The presents were great too but sometimes you just don't expect a baby doll from one of your aunts. once my birthday was over I got to hang around in Coronado meeting up with my other friends from school and getting to share part of my summer with them. Not only did I meet up with old friends but I also met new ones that eventually I had to say goodbye too because they were just here for the summer. That was very hard to do. But not only saying goodbye too friends was the hardest thing to do, but to also say goodbye to the summer of '08.

  27. This summer was really fun and relaxing for me. I didn't travel anywhere, but my cousin Adriana from New York stayed at my house for about a week. We had a lot of fun going to the movies, going out to eat, staying at home, sleeping in, going to Disney Land, and going to a roller rink. Another fun thing I did this summer was go to my first concert ever. It was a Jonas Brothers concert in L.A. I invited my friend, Jean, who is in 7th grade. We had a lot of fun and screamed super loud. Even though I stayed in Coronado all summer, I still had a lot of fun relaxing at home.

  28. This summer was one of the best Summers I have ever had. First off I got to play on the junior’s all-star team. We played for a couple of weeks and we lost, but for all the time I was on that team it was a blast. The rest of my summer was very easy, I just had to wait for August and go on a family road trip to Oregon for a family reunion. My grandparents were celebrating their 50th anniversary a long with many other proud achievements of my family. It was very achward because I have never met that side of my family. It was awkward for a while but then I started introducing myself and I got acquainted with them. But after two full days of visiting with my new met family members we hit the road to Yosemite. Yosemite was very exciting, I got to see the biggest waterfall in the USA and I got to spend the time with my family hiking and seeing all the landmarks that Yosemite had to offer. After we stayed for two more days at Yosemite, we finally decided to go home.

  29. This summer was very average: sleepovers, going to the beach, the things you expect to do during summer. Although, I did go to camp by lake sequoia and it was beautiful. We went swimming in the lake, went on hikes, and had campfires every night. None of these things could compare to the adventure of the overnight hike! After five miles of hiking and an evening of hot dogs and s'mores, we settled down for rest. We were almost asleep until we heard a snap, "It's a bear!" and all at once the campers were in a huddle with the counselors as our barrier. I shut my eyes and drifted to sleep, i couldn't bear to watch(or hear) any of this. I woke up around four in the morning and everyone was wide awake aside from the counselors. We were all excited so we headed straight back to camp. At campfire that night, we heard the growling of bears and two counselors popped out of a bush with cans. The pulled an attached string and the growling sounded again. "You all heard about the bear attack last night?", the director said, "Well, you've been fooled by none other than our four maintenance guys!". We were shocked, especially when we found out that the counselors counted five bears. After that experience, bears just make me laugh!

  30. This summer I visited many great places including, Idaho, North Carolina, and Scotland. I went to Moscow, Idaho for soccer. I was hoping to make the regional pool. How it worked was a bunch of girls born in 1996 practice, train, and play games for about five days. Then at the end of the regional camp players are selected to be in the regional pool. In the end I was very grateful and happy because I had made it.
Now when I went to North Carolina, that was for a different sport. I really enjoy high jump and had went to the association meet, the regional meet, and had made it to be in the nationals for the junior Olympics. The nationals took place in Greensboro, North Carolina. That was so much fun for I had never really done much for track. I tried pole vault but wasn't the best especially compared to the other competitors who had been doing it for a long time and placed seventh. In high jump I felt I did my best and I got second place. I hope to do this meet again next year and hopefully get first.
Heading towards a different direction, a direction across the globe. I went to Scotland for a family vacation, no sports sadly, but it was still extremely fun. A bunch of my dad's side of the family all came and we stayed in a castle. There was a small lake near the castle and it was fun to take this little row boat and paddle around and stare at the amazing scenery. I swore if I took a picture from any spot by the lake it would look like one of those perfect post card pictures you find in gift shops. I also did archery among other great activities that I had never tried before. This trip was amazing!
That is all the places I traveled to this summer and I'd say this was my best summer yet.

  31. This summer was really fun. I got to see a lot of friends this summer. I did not go out of San Diego, but I still had a fun summer. In June I had family over and I had to go to summer school for 4 weeks. In July a lot of things happened. On the 4th of July I was in the parade holding one of the winning float’s banners. A few days later I saw transformers 2. Then my friends from Arizona came over. We went to La Jolla and Knots Soak City. Then they had to leave because they had to start school. My cousin had a paint ball party and I got shot in the head. Next I went to SeaWorld and there was a new aquarium. On July 29 I went to Spreckels Park with some friends. Then on the last week of August I was a camp staff for Balboa Park scout camp. On that month I saw 2 movies, G force and Aliens in the Attic with my family. On the last week of August I went to Spreckels Park with some friend again and I took sailing lessons.

  32. This summer, was defiantly one of the best so far. During the summer my dad and I went on a road trip to Yellowstone National Park. While we were there, we stayed at the Old Faithful Inn, right across from the Old Faithful Geyser! Of course, it was always late to erupt but it was still really beautiful. I think the best part about staying there was actually seeing all the wildlife. We saw a grizzly bear, buffalo, buffalo calf's, elk, little elk, eagles and so many beautiful things. Except, I think the best thing was actually the geysers. I actually got sprayed by one! It wasn't hot thank god, but still. Did you know that geysers actually smell like muck and algae? Well, its not actually mud, its sulfur, and no, the air wasn't toxic. The awesome thing about geysers though, is that they are as clear as a bell, and can spray up to, or even more than, 50ft in the air! It was such an awesome experience, and I'll never ever forget it.

  33. The highlights of my summer was when my relatives from Germany and Washington visited. When they arrived I was shy because I have not talked to them let alone seen them for years. It was like our first time meeting. Weeks later my cousins, aunts, and I were laughing and telling eachother secrets which helped us get to know each other a little more. We also went to places like Seaworld, Soak City, and my favorite shopping! I was sad when they had to leave, but atleast I had an amazing summer and new memories to cherish.

  34. I had a pretty basic summer these past few months. The beginning was pretty boring, which was just practicing on the golf course with random old golfing people. Later, I traveled to Miami, Florida for an international golf tournament with people from all over the world. The Florida humidity was unbearable and made the air really hot. Renting a dark car wasn't helpful either. Afterward I traveled back to Coronado, with a feeling of very scary, intimidating international competition. The rest of my summer was pretty boring, except when I would go play golf with Marines on the base.

  35. This summer was really fun and bad. first i flew into Rome and took a 15 day cruise seeing Italy, France, Portugal, Spain, England, Ireland, Belgium, and Gibraltar. This was the most fun trip i will probably ever go on. Then we flew out of pairs, France to come home. my mom gave my brother a adivan, a anti-anxiety, pill so he wouldn't be afraid of the plain ride. When we arrived in Coronado my brother was vomiting and passing out so we took him to the doctor to see what was wrong. He got a MRI on his head and they found a 5.3 centimeter ball of blood from bleeding veins. So, we drove up to UCLA neurosurgery and they did the operation to remove the tumor. The operation was successful and he is fine now. I asked the the doctor what saved him and the doctor said " the medicine your mom gave him on the airplane saved his life" i wondered why until they told me the veins in his brain were bleeding on the airplane and the adivan kept the compression of the airplane from popping the ball of blood and killing him. after that we bought him a puppy, a rottweiler named Sasha. That was my summer.

  36. This summer was definitely one to remember. It was great to be able to spend time with my family and friends without having to worry about getting work done, and what assignments are coming up next. This summer, most of my time was consumed by track and field practices and meets. Being a nationally ranked high jumper,I have had practice almost every day, and important meets almost every weekend. Aside from sports, I went on two fun- filled trips with my family. First, we went to Las Vegas for three nights with my cousins, Troy and Lexi, their family, and my two sets of grandparents. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay Resort, and we had a blast swimming in the lazy river and wave pool! Our second trip was just recently, in August. We went to Palm Desert and stayed two nights, with just my family. It was relaxing to take a vacation with just my family, when we didn't have to make plans with people that we were going to meet. The rest of my summer was spent hanging out around Coronado with my family members and my best friends. I also went to see Green Day, my favorite band, in concert with my close friends. Overall my summer was great!

  37. This summer was very exciting!I got to go to Venezuela with my family to visit my family. In Venezuela I got to go to the beach practically every day with my cousins. After we came back from Venezuela I had family visiting from japan, Which was pretty overwhelming because not only did my family from Japan come but they brought friends to. In total 23 people came to visit us but the good thing was that they didnt all stay at my house they stayed at a hotel. I went to Sea World, The Zoo, Disneyland, and Knotts Berry farm. After they left it was like an average summer..... like going to the pool, hanging out with friends and having sleep overs. Then came going back to school. So overall I had an awsome summer.

This summer i also stayed at my aunts house for a few week over a period of time, which was a lot of fun. Also on the last day of summer all my friends and I went to the peir. 39. My summer this year was pretty normal. I didin't really go anywhere becides taking part in some camps that had activities all over San Diego. Some of the things that I did was wake boarding, tubing, some surfing and relaxing at the beach. Another place that I went was La Jolla to snorkal with the leapord ahraks and all the other tropical fish that were living their. On some nights my neighbors and I would hang out around my neighborhood. Other days I would just stay home and relax for most of the day. Close to the last part of the summer my cousin and a firend who lives in Vermont came to visit us . We gave them a tour of San Diego including Old Town, La Jolla, Downtown and Sea World. Actually now looking back at it it was a pretty cool summer. Thet only part that I wasn’t looking forward to was the start of school.

  40. We didn't do much except go to the mall and swim at the pool. When i got back I went to my sister that lives in Maryland. I had to help her move because she is getting married and is moving to a different house. She is also pregnant and I’m going to be an uncle. I also went to visit my other twin sister that lives a little up north from my other sister. She is going to college so I couldn’t spend allot of time with her. I went to a fourth of July party. I met some new friends in Maryland. I had a great summer. My summer was partially boring, but also exciting. On the first day of summer, I went to my grandma.

  41. My 2009 summer was very very boring I did nothing but go to my dad’s house, the beach and stayed home. At my dads house all I did was hang out with my cousins since they’re next door nieghbors.it was awesome hanging out with my cousins since I hadn’t seen them for like a year went to the beach with my friends once a weak usually Saturdays. We would go the deepest in, and then we would try to body surf the waves but in never worked. So we tried our best to dodge them. At home all I did was be a potato couch, eat, and watch TV. It wasn’t much fun but there wasn’t anything else to do but clean and clean isn’t fun. My summer after all was average.

  42. This summer was very boring and relaxing for me. I did not do any sports or clubs. I pretty much stayed at my house the entire summer, except for the last month. During that time, I had many sleepovers with my friends. I also walked around Coronado a lot and my family swam with the sharks but I didn’t go in. I went shopping at Old Navy a lot and saw a ton of new movies. I went bike riding a ton and went to the beach about once a week. My summer was very enjoyable.

  43. I had a very fun summer this year. Most of what i did was swim. I also watched transformers 2. I also went fishing for the first time. i caught a very very large yellow fin tuna which put up a fight. it had to be at least 2 fteet long. it took me five to 10 minutes to reel it in. Did i mention that it was the first fish i ever caught. i wish i could do that every summer.

  44. My summer was awesome. I went to the beach at least every week. Also I went to the pool at least three times per week. I did not really go anywhere this summer, except to the desert. There my brother, dad and I went to the Colorado River and swam. That was really cool because in the spot that we were at nobody else was. Also my grandma came to visit my family all the way from Florida. Even though I did not go to a lot of places this summer it was still really cool.

  45. This summer - though I can't say that it was one of the greatest - was certainly one to remember. The first half I don't remember too well(partly because I was asleep the whole time) but I mostly just stayed at home and watched various animes. (I found some really good ones! :P) About midway through however, my mom found a boyfriend, so my family started going over to his house more often. Well... maybe 'house' is the wrong word. He lives on a boat at the yacht club. Very near the end - probably around the last week - I got a late birthday present from my grandparents... A UNICYCLE!!! Can you believe it?! As soon as I get good enough to ride it without falling down every ten feet,, I'm going to buy a bright red cape and one of those mohawk helmets, and I will ride to school on that thing every day.

  46. This summer was different for me because we had a new family project. We were moving to live to Coronado so part of my summer was packing all my things. Then we went to live for some days with my grandparents. During that time we also spent some days in a country house and their I ride on bicycle swim ride horses, It was very fun. Then we came to Coronado in August and we went to the beach, we ride on bicycle, we went make some shopping etc… My summer was great!!!

  47. In the beginning of the summer I had the experience to go to Utah to participate in a lacrosse festival. The festival was three days long and we got to play against teams from a lot of different places. Then my mom told me that we were going to spend our summer in Coronado so we moved half our stuff from our other house. Then a week before school my mom said we were going to live here. Another good experience was that one of my older brothers went with me to mammoth so we could mountain bike. The first day we got there we just wanted to shred everything and go every ware. So then second day we wanted to go big and push each other. There was a jump section with five doubles and on the last one I was leaning sideways off the lip and landed off the trail and hit a tree. Bad news, my shoulder hit the tree the same time as my handle bar and I bruised my arm and bent my bar then hit the ground, my fork bottomed out that was a bummer. I had to walk my bike all the way back to the hotel and had a bad rest of the time. The rest of the time I got my shred on and did work.

  48. This summer was pretty fun. i hung out with my friends alot. I swam at the beach and caught a few narly waves. Me and my friends steven and john hung out alot and rode around coronado. Two things that i did this summer that were really important to me was going camping with my family and getting my charger jursey signed by some of the chargers. I went to a few parties that were pretty fun. Im not that good of a dancer so sometimes i looked like an idiot on the dance floor. another thing i did was play my bass guitar and learn a few new songs and they definantly helped me get better at it. So overall i had fun during summer and i hope this summer will be even better.

  49. This summer was a very boring one for the most part. The only time i had fun was when my family drove up to Las Vegas, Nevada for the last week of summer. From what I've heard there is not much to do in Vegas for children but after that one trip I strongly disagreed with them. There are plenty of family shows to see. There was a great variety of shows from magic shows to shows about science and there's even a show dedicated to Sharks! My favorite show was The Blue Man Group because of their vivid performance. Vegas may look a bit boring during the day but believe me at night the city comes to life! At night there were crammed streets, bright lights, and lots of noise. This vacation is one that I will remember long until im gone.

  50. The beginning of my summer was not fun. Over the summer my dad was deployed so my family went to go live in Arizona with my family. All I did was go to the swimming pool on base. As my summer went, on it got better. We went to Pheonix, Arizona where my cousin had a baseball tournament. It was really fun because I got to see my cousins. After that, though, my summer got boring again.

  51. This Summer I wanted to try something wild. So I decied to join the water camp at Misson Bay. Since it was very hot joining the water camp the perfect thing to do! At this camp you had many choices to pick out of such as: Basic sailing, Advanced sailing, Wave Boarding,Toobing, and Surfing! This camp lasted for four weeks, so i had plenty of time to try everything. The first the I tried was Basic Sailing. It was a fun
experience! Then I moved onto Advanced Sailing, that also was a fun experience to. I t was fun when we learned how to tip your boat and bring it back up. Ater that I tried everything else. That was really fun to, but my favorite thing to experience was Wave Boarding. It was the most scariest thing I've ever done, but it was worth it. As you can see I had great time, I never wanted my summer to end, but it did. Overall my summer was the best, maybe nexb summer I'll try something wilder than this, but thats another story.

  52. My summer was very good it was maybe one of the best summer’s I’ve ever had. I hung out with all my friends, well not all I didn’t hang out with my best friend Nina, but I did hang out with my other good friend Caitlin. We went to the beach like everyday or to the pool; because it was so hot we tried to stay cool. I also hung out with a lot my mom’s friends and there kids. We went to parties in Mexico. on the last day of summer my mom took me to Mexico just for fun. Well I can say I had fun in Mexico. I met new people as well this summer. My summer resolution was to be a nicer and better person and I could honestly say that I am a better person. I gained and lost someone. My dad left to Japan for a few months and I lost my best friend in the whole world. Over all I think I had a great summer

  53. I did alot this summer. It started out by going to the Disneyland Resort Hotel. I also went to Lake Tahoe for a week. At Lake Tahoe all I really did was kayak, snorkel, swim, and fish for crawdads. After I got back from Lake Tahoe I just hung out at my house and went fishing with my friends at the Landing. After a few weeks went by my dad, my friend, and I went to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to see the Little League World Series Championship Game. At Williamsport we went to the Little League Museum. A few minutes before the championship game we watched Vice President Joe Biden was placed into the Little League Hall of Excellence. When I got back school started. I think that the summer went by to fast.

  54. Hasn’t even been two weeks since school started and I’m already counting the days till summer comes again. Though my summer wasn’t the most exciting one I’ve had, it was still a memorable summer. I didn’t get to see my friends all that much because of my busy schedule and hanging out with my stepbrothers and step dad but the time I did I enjoyed immensely! Over the summer I had the opportunity to take dance classes with Betty, the head of Cosa dance at the high school. In the class we were taught African, ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and modern dance. Three and a half hours of day had me exhausted and taking naps but my little sister and I were glad to have the chance to train with amazing dancers, students as well as teachers. Separate from Cosa dance, I started belly dancing with a few friends at Bamboo studio. I loved the uniqueness of the dance and when sign-ups come around in a couple of weeks I will sign up again.
The only real trip I went on was to D.C. to visit my dad and my old oper, Katarina. When we first arrived I had thought that the bad news he gave us would put a damper on the trip but instead it made us want to make it that much more memorable for when my dad leaves for Afghanistan. Riding around on the metro, visiting China town, the museums, and playing monopoly while eating pizza at the apartment were all fun. Though D.C. is amazing the thing I miss the most is just lounging on the couch sharing popcorn or sprawled out on the floor yelling at each other while playing monopoly. I had had yet another amazing time in D.C.
When you picture summer you picture hanging out with friends, going to the beach tanning, and fun exotic trips. That’s all great and is what should happen but the thing that we should also do during the summer is spending time with family and loved ones, enjoying the sun and closeness that summer tends to bring. Reminiscing about summer is always enjoyable but class is now in and I’m determined to make the best out of this new school year and enjoy it! This school year will fly by and before I know it, summer will come again.

  55. For the first half of summer I mostly stayed at home. I also hung out with friends, played sports, and even did some reading. The funnest part of summer though was doing a summer camp called junior lifeguards. In this camp you go every day from 9 to 2 and get the weekends off. Also at the end you get to ride on the lifeguard jet ski and even go to knotts soak city. I like the camp because a lot of my friends do it and it is a good way to exercise during summer break. I had a great summer and hope next summer is just as fun.

  56. I had a great summer this year. I went to Hawaii and that was the highlight of my summer. I was really excited when I got to Hawaii because I got to see my dad for the first time in seven months. In Hawaii we went to a luau which had so much food it was unbelievable. Another thing that was really fun in Hawaii was snorkeling. My family and I went snorkeling two or three times. We saw three or four sea turtles including one that was real close to the shore. A bummer about Hawaii was that my dad's ships tiger cruise was cancelled. When my dad left my family and another family went hiking and then we went to the beach right after that. When we were at the beach for about an hour my brother got stung by a sting ray so we had to leave. Also this summer I had about six slepp overs with my friends. I also saw Transformers 2 three times, Harry Potter and the half Blood Prince, and G.I. Joe they were all great movies. Last, when my dad got back we went jet skiing at least three time and that was really fun. This summer was a summer that I will never forget.

  57. This summer was an exciting one. I spent the first month of summer, going to the beach, and relexing. During July I went to my dads house in Washington and we went motorcycle riding, golfing, boating, and went to Mariners baseball games. For the last month of summer I went to the gym a lot to get ready for football. But after the third week of football, we found out that we were not gonna have a team. So now I am spending my days in school.

  59. In the begining of the summer I went to lacrosse camp with some friends for a week. I also did junior guards for two weeks before I broke my foot. After the four weeks I had to wait before I could do anything again. During the time I spent with a broken foot I picked up guitar and I am still playing. when the four weeks were up I went on a cruise to cabo with some friends and family. In cabo we went cliff jumping, snorkeling, and also tubing. The last day of school some people went to the pier and jumped a couple of times and later went swimming. I had a great summer.

  60. My summer was quite interesting, first my best friend and I hung out alot at eachothers house and had many fun sleepovers, after she moved away, I went to L.A. A day later my, brother and I were off on a plane to Korea. When I arrived. I went to my grandmas house and I stayed there for one week, then I went to my other grandmas house for another one week, after that, I went to a place in Korea where I was supposed to help kids learn how to read and write english and I met really great people. When it was time to come back to America it was already one week before we go to school, and that was my interesting summer

  61. My summer could have been better if my dad were here. It started off on a high note, but from then on, it just went downhill. First of all, my best friend moved away to Dallas, Texas. Then I thought, well maybe I can survive this, but then things got a lot worse. I traveled to North Dakota which was a lot of fun. I saw my grandma and my aunt there. We made tie-dye tee-shirts and we went to the pool a lot. After we got back, I had a few sleepovers and just kind of stayed home. Summer was almost over and I had a few more soccer tournaments. Well, then I had a concussion. I fell down straight on the back of my head. After that, it wasn't even a week later and I fractured a bone in my wrist. I hope that I will not get injured again for a little while so I can have some time off. Over all, I had an okay summer.

  62. My summer could not have been better! I went to theatre camp during late June/early July and met tons of new friends, and reunited with my old friends. After that, I went to sleepaway camp up in Julian, where I got to spend two nights in the wilderness! My counselor, Lisey, was so kind and fun. I had two days to recover from camp before I zipped off on a red-eye flight to the British Virgin Islands, where I stayed for eleven days on a sailboat with my dad, stepmom, and stepsiblings. We went to this beautiful island named Anegada, where I had the freshest lobster in the world. I literally saw my dinner being killed and beheaded!! Those were the highlitghts of my fabulous summer.

  63. This summer I had the time of my life! I really haven't been out of the state; all I have seen really is California beach, desert, forest areas, and snow. But over the summer I got the opportunity to go to Hawaii! I went with one of my best friends and her mom. We stayed for about a couple days in Oahu, first at Waikiki, then at the North shore where we got to surf Pipeline(Summer, waves weren't big but it was so much fun!) and then at random coves where we got to jump off cliffs into the water, and see wild sea turtles and pretty fish. The other half was spent at Kona, Hawaii, where we went around all over the place finding B&Bs for the night. We got to go to this chocolate factory called Donkey Balls, and swim with wild dolphins at a random snorkeling spot! My summer was great! I finally got outside of California!

  64. I had a great summer this year. It might not be the best but It was still pretty good. Right off the bat my granparents took me to my cousin's house in Colorado. Before I got to my cousin's house though me and my grandparents went to a lot of national parks. I finally got to my cousins house and I felt rally relieved I got there at last. After I got back home from my cousin's house a relaxed for a little while. Next I went up to my other grandma's house where a couple of my other family members were. After that I went to my grandpa's house and saw even more of my family members. This summer was good because I saw almost my entire family.

  65. My summer of 2009 was full of fun and exciting adventures. I visited many places such as Disneyland, Germany, St. Louis, Lake Tahoe, Sea World, and San Onofre Beach. On the last day of school three of my friends and I went to Disneyland where we enjoyed many exciting rides and ate loads of sweets. Then I flew to Germany to meet my relatives and explore many family castles. Afterwards I took a plane to St. Louis were I went to parties every night in celebration of my aunt getting married. Next I took a friend to Lake Tahoe where we participated in white water rafting, swimming, hiking, and horse riding lessons. Also I went to Sea World where I saw many shows and unique animals. Lastly I went camping with my friends and their families along San Onofre Beach. I think I can say that my summer was full of exciting adventures and fun memories.

After they were over we went on a roead trip to Philidelphia, and Maryland. We all drove there in the same car-10 of us. It was really fun spending time with my cousins and my aunts and uncles this summer. I am really going to remember my cousins graduation ceremony!

  67. A Great Summer
Summer has always been so much fun but, something about this summer was especially great. The thing that was so much fun about this summer was I had many opportunities to go to many places! One, I found out that I was going to spend half of my summer with a guy named Jonas he was from Germany A son of my father’s friend, at first I was scared if he was going to be mean to me our if he would not like me. The first day he came to town, we picked him up at the airport. He was a little shy at first but, then we both warmed up to each other and now I have a brother in Germany . He was like a brother to me we fought (he would always win) we would ride are bikes (he would always be ahead), and most importantly we would have fun (we both won at that). Two, I had all of my friends from LA and my best friend come down to Coronado for the Fourth of July, we had so much fun. Three, right after the fourth of July, I got to go to Catalina for 2 weeks with one of my friends from L.A. We did so many things there and we met so many new people and had so much fun. It was fantastic! Four, it was my birthday we spent a night at Disney land with my best friend. The first day we went to California adventure the second day we went to Disneyland. We went on so many fun rides and we were screaming just for the fun of it. Five, it was time to go back and see all my old friends and hopefully meet new friends back at school and hope to have a great school year.

  68. My summer was incredible. Nothing too big but lots of fun. I was all around with my little pink cybershot camera taking pictures of my friends who I hung out with every day, my family, or my fish! I have a trampoline so a lot of time was spent on that jumping and playing with either the hose or just friends working on gymnastics. I did soccer all summer for my club, nado. We practiced on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week. I love to go shopping, which I did a lot at the navy base and fashion valley, and I love to see movies which I usually do at the same two places as I shop. Junior Life Guards at Coronado Central Beach was the big thing I did. It was 4 weeks of hard swimming 500 yards and running and more! I was not the best at anything, or will i ever be. My family took a vacation to Sun River, Oregon. It was awesome! I had no idea how to get around but the bike paths lead to fun places like the market where I bought gifts for my friends, went mini golfing, and ate ice cream. It also lead to the pool with a water slide which was very fun. ON that trip we rented a house and just a couple blocks away were our friends house. I was the only girl out of six other boys! It was OK. We went on a toured mountain biking trip where we stopped at natural water slides! They were fun because when the obsidian flowed through it hardened to make a slick, soft surface that water flows down which is great to slide on. That trip was fun along with all the other amazing stuff I did this summer but so was starting school.

My summer included hanging out with friends, the beach, having fun, jumping the pier, and doing new things every day. I had a few favorite days of the summer, one included the last day where a lot of people and I jumped off the pier. I couldn't say this summer was the best, but it is one of my favorite and one that I will remember.

  70. My summer went well. I went to sailing camp, and got to help a bunch of the beginners to the camp. Of course, I also got to go to Junior Guards in order to just have fun over the summer. It was great, because the entire time we did all kinds of rescues with our partners and I made a lot of friends at the camp. My dog seriously enjoyed the summer because we didn't have to do anything to lock her up and keep her in, so she got plenty of fresh air in before school started. I really enjoyed my summer, and I would like to do it over again.

  73. I had a pretty relaxing summer this year. My routine was just going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. It was super fun for me though because I usually have to go out of town, drive to far places, or go to big events. One of my favorite parts of summer was starting Coronado Cheer. This was super new to me because I had always done soccer or volleyball, but it's already one of my favorite sports. This was a great summer.

  74. This Summer, I didn't travel outside of San Diego. The Summer of 2009 was a memorable Summer for me because I got to hang out with all of my friends and go to the beach a whole lot! The months of July and June were the funnest months of my year. I spent those months going to the beach, pool, on Orange, Ferry Landing, the bay but mostly the beach. The Summer seemed to fly by so quickly, I had barely just gotten started when it turned to August. When the month of August comes along, it means two things. Summer is basically over it also means that cheer is starting really soon. Cheer starts on August 11th and conditioning lasts for two whole weeks and then there are regular practices. But it took up the month of August for me. In conclusion, Summer 09' was one of the best Summers so far and they'll just keep getting better.

  75. Over this past summer I have done many adventurous and exciting things. Some of the things I have done has been, I drove cross country with my family in my motor home, I saw a bear while I was riding my bike home in New Jersey, and I have stayed home and had a great time with friends. The most memorable part of my summer must have been spending quality time with my family in our motor home. I love driving cross country, yet we have hit many bumpy roads on the way from California to New Jersey. When we finally got to my lake house in New Jersey I experienced many frightening things. One of them was that I was riding my bike home from the lake early in the morning and I saw a bear walking towards the dumpsters in the junk yard. I was so scared! Once we got home from New Jersey I had time to spend time with my friends I had a lot of fun! My summer is one that I will never forget!

  76. For my summer I stayed in Coronado. The things I did over the summer were hanging out with friends and participating in three camps. There were many different things I did with my friends but the one I most remember is when I went to Soak City with Madison and Jennifer. I had a blast we went on all the rides except the one with the huge drop. The three camps I participated in were all fun but the one I’ll always remember is Junior Guards. Even though it was a month it went by fast. The different activities we did were running, swimming, competition, and something really fun on every Friday. The one thing I can reflect on is that I always want to stay in touch with friends so that you’re never bored over the summer.

  77. My summer was fun. Well at first it was boring because all my friends were gone so I just watched T.V. Then I went to Gnarly Neil's surf camp. That wasn't that much fun because there were a bunch of little kids who kept cutting me off. After that, though I went to Jr. Lifeguards for four weeks. That was a ton of fun! Lastly I just hung out with friends for the last week. That was my summer!

  78. Well this summer was pretty laid back for me. I went to Healdsburg,CA, and Yosemite, CA. But that was only my first trip. I have family up in Healdsburg, so that's why I go up there. It is a small wine town. The family that I live with seems to be alot like me, but my relatives in Healdsburg are kind of different. So we left a couple days earlier. Did I mention we stayed in the hotel for almost the whole time? Then we headed for Yosemite. We got there and probably had too much fun. We went on a bus ride all over Yosemite, the next day, we did Archery, Horseback riding, hiking, and more. On the bus ride, we took a rest stop. While the people on the bus stared at a deer that had come out of the bushes near our area, I had a different experience. It came face to face with me! About a foot and a half apart. It just stared at me, like this happened all the time. Then we went back on, and continued to Lower Yosemite Falls. Then we went home and relaxed for another month. In August we went to Beverly Hills and stayed at the Beverly Hilton. It was one of the nicest hotels that I have ever stayed at. We saw movies, toured Warner Brothers movie studios, visited UCLA and a Medical School, and then we went to Rodeo Drive and The Tar Pits. After that we went home, again. Then, the loath of my summer came. I went to Camp Emerald Bay with my Boy Scout Troop. I didn't really enjoy Emerald Bay. Actually, it was the WORST experience I ever had. Besides, the staff said it was tropical. It was a desert wasteland that looked like one of the backrounds on a Rambo movie set. I was in brutal merit badge torchure for a week. We had to do Merit Badges and boring outdoor stuff during the trip. But the good thing is that I got to spend time with my dad. So that about raps it up. Thank you for reading this very brief version of my summer.

  79. This Summer Was Fantastic

This summer I felt really relieved to be out of school. I'll tell you, sixth grade was not the easiest year of my life, but I managed. I did not hang out with friends until the end, but I still had a blast the rest of the time. I traveled a lot this summer. It started out with my family going camping up to The San Juan Islands (near Washington). My family always spends most of our summer there. During that time I went to soccer camp for a week and got to see all my cousins. I had a great time with that. While I was up there I had a big soccer tournament back down in San Diego and I promised my coach I would attend it. In order to do so, I had to fly back by myself on the plane! Our team ended up finalists in the tournament. While I was in San Diego I stayed with a good friend. When I flew back to the San Juans, I took two planes: one a regular and the other was a sea plane! I got to sit in the CO pilot seat! After we were done living in the San Juans we drove all the way up to the Columbia River Gorge for my dad's sailing regatta. My friends, Sterling and Paris, were there too because their brother was also in the regatta. I had so much fun spending time with them. Finally it was time to go back home to Coronado where I enjoyed the last week of summer. I think the part I will remember most about the summer is the feeling of not having anything to worry about and that you should always treasure each summer as if it were the last.

    THE END

  80. My summer was amazing! I went to the beach almost every day. The first through fifth week of summer I was at YMCA Camp Surf. Then my mom and my step-dad took my sister and me to his parents’ house in Santa Barbara. Their house is part of a tennis club so, as you guessed, we played tennis everyday that we were there. We went to different restaurants and bakeries and we had crème brulee at an Italian restaurant. It had glazed sugar on top. After that my dad took my sister and me on a road trip to Utah. We hiked to all the arches and saw the Grand Canyon on our way back. We stayed the night in Palm Springs with our Aunt Tonya and her two loving kittens. After that I did junior lifeguards. Unfortunately two weeks before school started, I got my most unfavored sickness, strep throat! When I got better I enjoyed the last few days before school. That is why I had the best summer ever this last year!

  81. This summer was busy, complicated, yet refreshing. This summer I was involved in a play at Jr. Theatre. It was an amazing expirience! The play was Les Miserables, I got the awsome chance to have one of the lead roles. I played the part of Young Cosette and I had a solo song! The play ran for 3 weeks and my family and all my close friends came to see it! Rehersals were two months because the show is so complex. But, once again what an awsome expirience!
The other part to my summer was moving. My dad had lived in our old home for 25 years! So as you can imagine, there was a lot to clean out. My Aunt Jennifer came out from Texas to help us out. If not for her I don't think we would of been ready for moving day! A few times when she and I weren't busy we went to a few movies at the theater and we went to luch and dinner a few times. That was nice to take breaks! While sorting and getting rid of so many things it felt refreshing.Getting a fresh start! Now that the move is done and my family and I are living here in Coronado, things have finally settled down. And, so far living in Coronado is wonderful! What a summer!

  82. My summer was amazing I had a great time. But I wish that summer was longer. But the time that I spent was worthwhile. I did many summer camps that were pretty fun. The best part of the camps was how I did them with some of my friends. I also got to spend a lot of time with my family which was very fun. The main and best part of the summer my trip to Yosemite. I got to see all the amazing rocks and mountains, lush green forests, wild animals, and Yosemite falls. They were amazing sights. There were some great experiences to go along with everything we saw. On the first day something unexpected happened on the night tour when we took a break to look at the mountains at night near us I suddenly saw these little bear cubs climbing up a tree. I expected that there would be a mother bear coming I got nervous I saw the bear from the tour bus we were all shocked. But then the park rangers scared the bear off. So we were safe it was pretty cool seeing a real bear in the wild. The next morning I went to Lower Yosemite falls and climbed up the many rocks to get to the foot of the waterfall. There were some amazing sights when you got to the top. That was one of the many experiences I had in Yosemite. The next day and final day at Yosemite we did a hike 4 miles up to the top of vernal falls. It was so awesome seeing being at the top of a waterfall. I had a great time being with my family members to enjoy such a great place. Many of my family members think it was the best Yosemite trip we’ve ever done. I recommend you visit there sometime. After that we went to SeaWorld and the Zoo. When the summer was starting to end I spent a lot of time with my family. Thank you for listening to how much I enjoyed my summer.

  83. Last summer, I mostly stayed in Coronado, and hanged out with my friends.I did, however, go to a sleep-away camp for two weeks. After I returned I stayed home for a couple of weeks and then flew up by myself to San Fransisco, where I visited many of my old friends I had made before I moved to Coronado. Lastly, two weeks before school started I flew up to Oregon to visit my uncle. Although it wasn't the most exciting summer I have ever had, I was still relieved to be outside of shcool and enjoyed the break.

  84. Over the Summer I went to four different places and had a great time. First, I went to Arizona (the same day school got out) and stayed at a friend’s house that I have known since I was born. I then went to Palm Dessert the same day I got back from Arizona, and stayed with a friend who lives there, the friend is more like my fake grandma than a friend though and I stayed with her for a week. One week after I came back from there I went to Virginia for a week; I flew there on my own. About two weeks after that I went to sleep-away camp for two weeks with my brother, I made lots of friends there. Overall my summer was great and I have lots of new memories and friends

  85. This summer was awesome! For the first half of the summer I went camping with my best friend in Julian. Then I watched her sixth grade promotion. I also went to the beach every day and having a blast. For the second half of summer I did Junior Lifeguards in I.B. I loved it we went to soak city and had an ice cream banquet. The only bad thing that happened this summer is that I got Swimmers Ear and it got so bad that the canal was closing which meant the doctor had to put a wick in my ear. I couldn`t go in the water for seven days either. Even though it was the best summer by far and I hope next summer is better.

  86. This summer, I traveled a lot. In late July, I went to England and Italy where I spent about 2 ½ weeks. My favorite cities were Florence, Pisa and Firenze. I did a lot of sightseeing with my family. We went to see Michael Angelo’s beautiful sculptures and the Basilica de Santa Maria del Fiore (the Domo.) I also saw tons of museums with striking works of religious art. My family and I also went to Ireland; Ireland is an immaculate place with tons of sightseeing. We went to see the “beehives” which are giant rock domes by the sea. You would admire them from the outside and then would run when you got close, afraid it was going to fall on you. My family and I stayed in a castle with a beautiful view of the Atlantic. Outside, were two horses; that my sister and I would take care of. I loved Ireland more than any other place that I’ve gone to because of the atmosphere. The atmosphere is so laid back. I went to dinner with my wellies 3 out of the 5 nights! Even though my trip went so fast, it was a once in a lifetime experience.

  87. This summer I stayed at home and relaxed. I did lots of stuff, though, like volunteering to help at the Coronado Public Library for children's reading programs. I also went to the beach, had sleepovers, and went bike riding. I got to ride my bike to Subway, and bought a Five-Dollar Foot Long with my friends. I also LOVE to read, so I read many series and different types of books over the summer. The series that I remember most reading in the summer was the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Cheerleading Camp also started around the end of summer. I have not done any cheerleading for a long time, so that was really fun. Overall, I had a fun time relaxing and doing all of the activities that I did. It was a very good summer.

  88. My summer went pretty well. I didn't travel that much, but overall, it was still a great summer. The only place I did travel to was to Universal Studios in L.A. for my birthday. It was really fun. I was able to go on most of the rides, and also saw a couple of shows. Before that, i got to see the Chargers have a walk-through on the Navy Base. The walk-through was boring but they had food and games which made it pretty fun. I also got my football signed by most of the team. For most of the summer, i just went to the beach. I go every weekend in the summer. That's how my summer went.

  89. I had a great summer. I was so excited to get out of school and get my summer underway. This summer I went on many great vacations with my family to Arizona, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico, and Laughlin. I think Hawaii was the best because I was in such a cool place and I was there for swimming. That swim meet was so much fun. I also did a lot of things that I like to do in Coronado like surfing and fishing. This summer wasn't the best but it was great.

  90. This summer I mostly stayed in Rosarito, Mexico, in my Grandpas house. We stayed there for a month and a half. After that we came back home for about a week. About a week later we drove to the San Diego Zoo,the Wild Animal Park,Seaworld, and Legoland. When we got back I only had 2 weeks of summer vacation left, and I spent it with my friends and at the library. Then the day before school started me and my friends went to the school to get our schedules and then we went to meet some of our teachers. And that is what I did for my summer vacation.

  91. My summer was fun. I got to hang out with my friends basically everyday! We did tons of fun stuff. For example, I went to the Del Mar Fair with my friends Emma Rose and Michaela! I also got to go to Soak City quite a few times, the beach, baseball games, movie nights, parties, bonfires, and had tons of sleepovers! In July I got to travel up to Hanford, California to visit some of my old friends, which is always pretty fun! Cheer started up this summer too! It is already one of my favorite sports and I love it because I get to do it with all my friends! I will never forget all the fun memories I had at cheer camp and during conditioning. As you can see, this summer was a great one!

  92. Christopher colombus was one of the greatest explorers. He did exploring from the age of 15-25 non stop. Many poeple said that Clombus was not a good man. I think that we do should celebrate Colombus day because we need to celebrate the great things he did for us. Without him we wouldn't know certain thing. So thanks to Christopher Colombus we know things today and without him we would be lost. He found out that the world was round. Without him, who knows if we would hve any clue our world was round. So I think that we need to celebrate Colombus day to cherish his great things he did!

  93. Christopher Culumbus was an important person that changed history. Because of his brave character, a huge exchange of goods, animals, and food could be made between Europe and America, after his discovery. Although he gave to much importance for money and enslaved the American Indians, he was a great explorer. Different images of him are now made all over the world. Columbus day should be celebrated in America because of his great discovery.

  94. Christopher Columbus was a very bad man. As most of you guys know Christopher Columbus did not actually find America. The people who really found America were Native Americans who found it by following animals so they could eat and have cloths to wear. When Christopher Columbus came to America he saw the Arawak people. And he took them prisoners and made them work for gold. After first reaching the Bahamas, including Haiti and Cuba, Columbus went and kidnapped many hostages and took them to Spain for money and so the king and queen would give him money for getting something when he came back from his journey to “Asia.” The bad thing for Columbus though was that the King or Queen would not give him money because they wanted gold and he brought back slaves. So on the way back to Spain most of the slaves died and he could not find the gold fields so after a lot of tries Columbus actually threatened people by telling them if you don’t find a certain amount of gold I will cut your hand off and guess who he told that to? He told it to kids as young as fourteen! After he would threaten the kids the kids would go and find some gold, and the kids who found gold got a copper token to wear around their neck, but the kids who didn’t find any gold they got their hands chopped off and they bled to death. I don’t think Christopher Columbus ever found all the gold he was looking for, but he did kill thousands of people trying.

No. I don’t think we should celebrate Christopher Columbus day, because he was a bad man, and he did not find America first. Also he didn’t even find Asia the place he was searching for.

  95. Columbus grow-up in the city Genoa in Portugal. He started sailing at a young age. When he got older he read about Asia and how rich it was with gold. So he went to the king and queen of Portugal and asked if they would pay him for it. They said no. So he asked Spain and they said yes. Then he fines the Americas. Not knowing that he landed in the Bahamas at the time he names the natives “Indians”. The first thing he did was enslaving the natives and makes them bring him gold. He later died in 1506. We shouldn’t celebrate Columbus day he was a curl old man

  96. I think that Christopher Columbus was many things. I think that he was definitely foolish, because he explored alone. Christopher Columbus was also a very brave man, because he set out with three ships to explorer Asia. The only thing is that he did not find Asia he found North America. If Christopher Columbus had not found America I might not be writing this blog. Overall some people might call Christopher Columbus a fool and a disgrace, but I think he was a great explorer.

  97. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776. It was written to declare America’s independence from Britain and announce that it was its own country. Because of its existence we have the right of free speech, and we can elect our own president. As anyone can see, it is a truly miraculous document. First the document reads that all people are born with unalienable rights, including ‘Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.’ Next it goes on to list all of the ways King George the Third has wronged them. (Insulting him several times as well) After that it says that “In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury... We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations… They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity.” This means that they have tried to fix the problems presented by the British government, but that that the government wouldn’t cooperate. After that they declare their independence. It was signed by fifty-six people, and was considered by Abraham Lincoln ‘the birth of political philosophy.’
