  1. My all-time favorite story is Green Eggs and Ham because Dr Seuss uses rhymes to attract the reader’s attention. I also think he has very creative pictures. He does a good job by making numerous settings and very funny characters. Dr Seuss has written many books but his best book is Green Eggs and Ham.

  2. My favorite story is a book called The Penderwicks by Jeanne Birdsall. It's about 4 sisters who go to a cottage in Massachusetts on a beautiful estate called Arundel for the summer with their dad. Their mother died only a few years before from cancer. They befriend a boy who lives on the estate and they have wonderful summertime adventures together, such as rebelling against the boys wicked mother (the owner of the estate) and her new boyfriend. I love this book because the author makes it feel sort of old-fashioned by using certain names for the characters and giving them certain personality traits. I also think the setting of the story gives it that old-fashoined feel. I also feel a connection with on of the characters; one of the four sisters who has a love for writing. Although her stories are mainly written for amousement for younger children, her passion and confidence reflects my own.

  3. My all-time favorite story has to be the fairytale, Cinderella. The author of this story uses settings, good word choice, and emotion very well to make it feel like you are actually part of the story. The author also uses irony and similes in this fairytale. One example of irony is when the stepsisters tear up her dress, making her chances of going to the ball close to none. We don't expect the fairy godmother to show up and make her a fabulous new dress or give her a carriage to go to the ball. This fairytale is a whimsical story that makes every time I hear it, a memorable experience.

  4. My all-time favorite story is the science fiction novel The Giver, by Lois Lowry. It takes place in a futuristic society where humans have been able to eliminate pain and emotional confusion from daily life. At first, this way of living seems like a perfect utopia. However, certain events and details foreshadow at hidden truths. For example, when people become elderly, or if they cause trouble in their community, they are taken to a laboratory where they are “released” and never heard of again. While from our perspective it is obvious that these victims have been killed, our characters are so innocent to these common troubles that they do not understand the horrific result of this awful procedure. This dramatic irony is a driving force throughout the novel, because it is this lack of knowledge that lets characters remain happy and peaceful with their way of life even though it comes at a hidden price. In addition, verbal irony is used heavily throughout the book. A character named Jonah plots to uncover the wrongdoings of his community’s inner workings to the general populace; to avoid discovery, he must constantly mask both his emotions and motives. Lois Lowry won me over with The Giver not only because of its suspenseful storyline and interesting predictions for future society, but also for its engaging literary style and devices.

  5. My all time favorite story of all time would have to be Room One. I really like this story because it reminds me of all of the fun things that I like to do as a kid. The style of the authors writing is so much like a kid’s point of view. The book is very clear such as, the way it is shown in perspective and is in a good person view. I really like this story and it is very much a book that I like because it’s a good book for kids.

  6. My favorite book of all time is "The Last Battle" by C.S. Lewis. This is the last of the series "The Chronicles of Narnia" which is majical book. I love this book and its series becasue its about wonder and adventure. My favorite character in the series is a talking mouse called Ripachee. I like this character alot because even though he is one of the smallest animals, he is extremly brave and has alot of self ambition. I was extremly sad when the series ended with this book, but at the same time I am also glad that it didn't go on and on. I hope that everyone can read this story and agree with me that this is easily the best book of all time.

  7. My all-time favorite story is the Twilight series. But my favorite book out of the series is New Moon. The author uses detailed vocabulary, romance, and her imagination. Stephanie Meyer (the author) writes about vampires and werewolves who fall in love with a human. She describes battle scenes and what they look like very well. The romantic twist between the characters is really interesting and really kept me hooked to the whole series.

  8. My all-time favorite story is 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass. One of the concepts I liked that the author used was how the two main characters had to get over the fight they were in for one year and work together to solve a conflict that nobody else could understand. The elements of style I liked were how the problem was mysterious at the beginning of the story, but then the characters had to uncover clues to fix the problem. It made the story interesting because it was easy for me to predict what was going to happen.

  9. My favorite story is Dr. Suess's Green Eggs and Ham. I love how the story has rythme and sense of humor. For example, "Do you want to eat with a goat on a boat?" I've read the story when I was 5, and I still read it to my little brother. It's a story that mostly everyone knows and loves.

  10. My favorite book was probably Code Talkers. The reason why is because it was very suspenceful. The elements that I like in a story are fast, violent scenes. The long, boring dialouge parts are, like I said, extermly boring. Those are the types of books I like.

  11. A Child Called” It” is a true story based in a kid who his mother treated him different because she thought that her dad disliked her because of him. So she would give him drastic chores. She would drink all day while he cleaned the whole house and he had to sleep in the garage. His mom would never feed him. If she did feed him it would be the left overs and because she thought that he had done a good job cleaning or she would put him on the stove and turned it on. Its my favorite book because its drastic but at the end the police takes him and he has a happy life.

  12. My favorite story of all-time is "The Host" written by Stephenie Meyer. It is a novel that is well written and organized. One reason it is my favorite story is because it is written in first person, as opposed to third person. This story is memorable because you're only inside one characters head, instead of three other characters. This story has different vocabulary, with words I have never heard of before. It is a good book and is totally my all time favorite book.

  13. My all-time favorite story is "The Kingdom Keepers" by Ridley Pearson. The author uses many different writing styles in his stories. He uses many different types of metaphor and irony. In one part of the story he writes that when she walked by, they felt a stream of ice.

  14. One of my favorite books is the series of unfortunate events. The author Lemony Snicket always gets the readers attention by saying to put this book down and pick a happier book because he says that it is his duty to write down every deatil of the dreadful events that the Baudelaire orphans have to go through.

  15. My favorite story would have to be, Because Winn-Dixie! I love that story so much! The reason that I love the story is because the author does so many things to explain the great events in the story. When I was little I used to tell my mom to read it to me every night over and over again. Even though I am older I still LOVE it today.

  16. My favorite story is the House of Night series. The author uses alot of foreshadowing and suspense and it makes you want to keep reading. What really made the story memerable is the plot of the story and how something sudden and unexpected will happen. In the books Stevie Ray dies out of nowhere but the author says beforehand she was coughing badly which foreshadowed er death.

  17. My favorite book of all time is called thirteen reasons why. The author uses a lot of irony, which makes you be confused but still want to keep reading. He also uses a lot of foreshadowing and suspense. One example of when he uses foreshadowing is when the main character has a flashback about a horrible thing that happened, instead of forgeting about it, he goes and finds out the reason for the horrible event. However, he does use a lot of foreshadowing too.

  18. My favorite book is the Lighting Thief. The story is told by a third person. In the story when Percy was accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt and that will foreshadow what will happen to him later on in the story. The style of this book is a Fantasy. Some of the examples that make this a Fantasy are in the story they are Greek gods and Monsters. In the story the Monsters try to stop Percy from returning the lightning bolt to Zeus. I think this book is interesting because some of the some Greek monsters I never knew before reading this book.

  19. My favorite books are the Hardy Boys books. These books are told third person narrator. It makes me feel excited each time I read them. I am on my fourth book right now. The author places down clues for the characters and the reader. That is a form of foreshadowing. It would be ironic if some of the good guys turned out to be the bad guys. But that has not happened in any of the stories that I have read yet. These are great books to read. I love them because they get me excited.

  20. I would say that my all time favorite story would be a short story called The Tree Little Pigs. I think the most memorable thing about this story was how the author; Joseph Jacobs includes elements like having different points of views and making it exciting for little children to read. I think this is my all time favorite book because it is a perfect for children and an extremely popular book to read. The exciting parts in the book were probably when the pigs were getting their houses torn down and you feel a little bit of suspense.

  21. My all- time favorite story would have to be The House on Mango Street written by, Sandra Cisneros. This book to me is so interesting because she doesn’t use big words and her word choice has a variety, such as, adjectives, punctuation, and imagery which to me is the main element that makes it a good book. All of the words she uses help me visualize what’s going on in the story and to me that’s what brings my attention to books.

  22. My all-time favorite story is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This is because the story is full of action and adventure. It is mysterious, and the hero of the story is courageous, daring, and a great friend. In the book, the author uses foreshadowing when the headmaster is telling Harry about a prophecy in which he will have to kill Voldemort. The author also uses a lot of verbal irony when Ron is talking. He tends to say a lot of stuff that he doesn’t mean. The writer also makes the story extremely amusing sometimes, and makes the characters really witty. J.K. Rowling is a great author, and has made and entire great series due to her style.

  23. My all-time favorite story would have to be Cinderella. When I was younger, I would read it a lot, mostly because I loved princesses and fairy-tales. Cinderella was really popular, so there were thousands of different versions of it. My favorite part was always at the ending or the "happily ever after" part, because Cinderella derseved a good life after doing so much for her family. The story makes it memorable for me, at the end you learn that you'll always be rewarded in the end. Overall Cinderella is a well written story and you can learn many things from it.

  24. I think my favorite book is twilight.
The reason Twilight is my favorite book is, because the author “Stephanie Meyer” pulls you into her story with her descriptive vocabulary, and love story. I really like romantic stories and this is one of them. Stephanie Meyer is a great author because she describes all perfectly with an acute vocabulary witch attract your attention to the book.

  25. My favorite story of all time is Shogun. The author uses many plot twists to keep the story interesting. Like having the main character fall in love with the wife of an important official, or a ninja attack. Also, the author uses a lot of parallel stories that all converge. Like, the newcomer and the plots of war all come together at the end. Shogun is a great story with good uses of literary elements.

  26. My favorite story is The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux. It is about a phantom that haunts an opera house and, the woman he loves, Christine. Leroux’s writing style makes it very hard to predict what might happen next. One moment, the main characters could be standing in an apartment and on the next page, could be stuck in a torture room. The characters in the story don’t have specific traits but do have dark pasts that help set the scene for the story. Leroux often switches point of view to reveal the pasts and futures of the characters. This strange and uncommon style of writing makes for an unpredictable and exciting book.

  27. My all-time favorite story is The Child Called It, by Dave Pezler. Some elements of style Dave Pezler uses are irony, imagery, and dialect. Those elements make the story interesting because it lets me get into the mood of each situation of the story. The elements make the story memorable for me because they all make the story very dramatic and sad. Dave Pezler showed those elements throughout his story. For example, when Dave’s mother was dropping him off to school and told him what to say about the bruise he got, “Tell ‘em… Tell em’ you ran into the door.” That example from the story used dialect in it. Another example was when Dave was talking about his father, “He stood about five feet ten inches tall, and he weighed 190 pounds. He had broad shoulders and forearms that would make any muscle man proud.” In that example, Dave used imagery to see how his father looked like.

  28. My all time favorite story is Where the Red Fern Grows. The main literary concept it uses is suspense. There are many problems that need to be solved and many of them are life threatening, like saving you new dog from falling into the ice covered river, or freezing in the snow. The elements of style that the author uses is that he connects the story to everyone’s life by putting in simple details, that other writers don't, to help you really put yourself in the story. It was really memorable for me also because of all the emotions presented in the book. It shows how quickly happiness can turn to sadness and the other way around also.

  29. One of my all time favorite books is Story of a Girl by Sarah Zarr. This is a story about a young girl named Deanna Lambert. Deanna has a hard time going through high school after getting caught fooling around in the back of a guys car. In the story she comes across problems that many girls may face such as having a crush on her best friends boyfriend who happens to be her friend since she was a little kid. Sarah Zarr makes you feel as if you have known Deanna your whole life. You feel the need to help but then you realize that you’re reading. It leaves you not wanting but kind of needing more. Once you’re hooked you’re hooked for life. For these and many more reasons this is my all time favorite book.

  30. My all-time favorite story would be Dr.Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham. in this story, Dr.Seuss uses the rhyming style of literature. Rhyming is fun and interesting and this story is filled with a lot of it. It keeps the flow of the story going making it lots of fun. My favorite part at the beginning was when he uses the reverse sentence format saying," I am Sam. Sam I am ". I believe he is a literary genius. He is one of the best children book writers ever known. This is why he wrote my all-time favorite story.

  31. My all-time favorite story is Night by Elie Wiesel. Night is an autobiography that gives accounts of being a Jew in concentration camps during the Holocaust through his view point. He writes about the horrible events he encountered with his family consisting of his father, mother, and two sisters. Elie writes his memoir using his confused state-of-mind which is a key element in the story. He also uses his strong religious beliefs to guide the reader to his inner-most thoughts. The book is memorable for me because he wrote to make me think twice about what it would be like to be a Jew in those times. Elie showed me how hard and difficult it was to live and basically survive in the camps while knowing what it was like to stare death in the eyes. That’s why Night is my all-time favorite book.

  33. I think my all-time favorite story is Cinderella because when i was growing up i always wished i was Cinderella. i think Cinderella is about not always getting what you want but wishing for what you want. i know that Cinderella didnt always get what she wanted and was not always treated the way she should of been treated, and even though you dont always get what you want. you can always wish or even dream for what you want and you never know if it will come true.

This book is suspenseful, mysterious, and it really paints a picture in your head about Zoey Redbird and her friends. I would recommend this book to girls who love stories about vampires. Just take my advice, this is a really good book. Also, the newest one is Tempted, it came out a few weeks ago

  35. I would have to say that my all time

favorite book would probably be The Giving Tree.

Well to me the book teaches me alot of morals

and teaches you a lesson. Example: In the story

at the end the boy has taken everything from the

tree without saying thank you. All it was was

him saying "I Want", or, "I need". That just

shows me how greedy people can get. It also

shows us that nobodys perfect. But The tree just

kept giving till there was nothing left to give.

  36. My favorite book of all-time has to be " Child Called It." Because, it makes you think about the abuse he had when he was our age. Like eating out of the trash and regurgitating when he got home from school. But the thing I did not understand is why his mother did this to just him and not his brothers. I might not call this a biography but it does talk about his life, but his mother was a alcoholic not so much his dad. And what made it interesting or memorable was to think how some children have it lucky and some don't. Therefore at the end he is saved but in the second book he is still with his mother. My favorite book of all-time is "Child Called It" because is tells us what can happen if we were abused like he was.

  37. My favorite story of all time would have to be Because of Romek. This book is an autobiography about a Jewish boy during the Holocoust. He tells about his experiences and his struggle to survive. In the end he does survive and he writes this book in describing the events that took place during his life and some of the horrible tradgedies that he had to face. The author uses literary conceps and elements of style that include strong detail such as the usage of similes and metaphors, and even a bit of irony throughout the book. I admire the author's strong detail in the way that he pieces together his different style and elements of writing using details and different forms of writing in creating emotion and mood and forming pictures and images in my head as I visualize the events that are unfolding. An example of irony is when his mother tells him everything will be okay. In this statement she is not positive that everything will be okay and is saying that to reassure the children and for them not to get scared when in the end everything does not turn out okay for everyone. One example of a simile often used is "it was as dark as pitch". This statement is basicly saying that it was very dark almost to the point where it felt darker than black.

  38. My favorite story so far is "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks. Nicholas Sparks made this story intresting and memorable by using literary concepts like metaphors and irony. This story is about a teenager, Ronnie, who hangs out with the wrong crowd. Nicholas Sparks used a lot of metaphors to exaggerate what bad things Ronnie had gotten herself into. I really got into the book when Nicholas Sparks used ironies. He used dramatic irony when Ronnie was about to do something she was going to regret. "The Last Song" definitely told a great story while using literary concepts.

  39. One of my all-time favorite stories is "The Cat in the Hat" because it was one of the first books read to me. Also, the way that Dr. Seuss wrote it hooked me immediately; his imaginative characters and the way he rhymed his words made me want to read the entire story, think about the plot and what would happen in the end. The story's main element is rhyme, which hooks the reader the most. This book is my favorite because of the way it's written and how it draws in imagination and the love of literature.

  40. My all time favorite story is Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. It is the first book in a trilogy series and was performed as a play. The book does an incredible job of developing the characters as far as their physical appearance and their personalities. An example that stood out to me was, “The girl stood next to a stout woman, wearing a wide ranging and complicated skirt and wielding a formidable black umbrella. The woman’s hair was an unnatural shade of red, and she wore a great deal of powder on her face, caked and cracked at the edges of her mouth and nose.” A quality that distinguishes this book as an exemplary piece of literature is the author’s use of economy of language. The words are chosen carefully to omit useless language and created action and excitement. The careful and concise use of words creates energy and clarity to me as a reader. The author’s possess a clever ability to create intense and turbulent conflicts throughout the story. The authors engage the reader with their use of language that creates the dream that your there and continuous conflict as the story progresses through creating the plot, the part of the book that’s most memorable is how they resolve the fight between good and evil .

  41. I have many favorite stories, yet there is one that stands out to me the most; "The Wisard of Oz." This story has many exciting plots and the writer foreshadows; he gives you hints as to what is going to happen next. The story is like a fantasy land that has many different worlds. For example, The Land of Oz is an all green castle and everyone who lives in it is green. There are also characters such as the scarecrow, tinman, and the cowardly lion. There is also a very strong theme to the story. The theme is that there is no place like home, meaning there is nothing better than being home. "The Wizard of Oz" is a great story with compelling ideas throughout.

  42. My all-time favorite story is A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. This story is especially important to me because it shows that no matter who you are, you can always change for the better and earn back your loved ones' trusts. It also gets you into the spirit of the holidays! The author uses elements like old fashion words, and heart touching scenes to really make you understand the theme of the story. It is filled with priceless morals that really contribute to a person's character. An example is when you read about the Cratchits' lifestyle, and how much they need, especially Tiny Tim. This really makes the story one to remember. A Christmas Carol really makes you think about who you are as a person, and that makes it a memorable story to me.

  45. My all-time favorite story is "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" by Dr. Seuss. The author uses rhyming and descriptive words to make the story interesting and memorable. For example, even the tile is a rhyme. The entire story is about different characteristics of the many fish Dr. Suess imagines. I love that it is about so many different kinds of fish by just changing one or two discriptive words for each type. This story is a really fun read because of all of its silly rhymes. The story doesn't even have a plot; it is just a long, descriptive passage, but that only makes it all the more interesting. You don't have to worry about with following along with the story line. All you have to do while reading "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish", is sit back, relax, and laugh at the hilarious rhymes Dr. Suess makes up.
