Ms.Hettinger didn't lie, it actually is an awesome five minute video. There were various pictures about the American history, like the Stamp Act, Daily Life, the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and a long section of interesting clips on the American Revolutionary War. I think that mainly the Townshend Acts influenced the colonists to declare independence. If I were one of the colonists living at the time, I would have been horrified by these taxes on the things I buy, without any consent. They can't just go into a country on the other side of the Earth and insert four taxes just to make more money! I would be very mad, but I also think that what the colonists did at the Boston Tea Party was absurd. They had the right to be mad, but even I think that crossed the line.
ReplyDeleteI think that the events that most influenced the colonists to want to declare their independence from Great Britain leading up to the American Revolution were crucial to the being of the USA. I think that the most important event that influenced the colonists was the Boston Tea Party because it showed both the colonists, and Great Britain that most colonists weren’t afraid of the “Red Shirts” and that if the colonies grew into one big rebellion, Great Britain was no match for them. Another big event was the Boston Massacre because it angered the colonists and they decided to rebel even more against the Britain government. In the long shot, I think that these two main events sparked what would be known as the American Revolution.
ReplyDeleteSome of the events pictured in the video were the Declaration of Independence, Tax on Tea, Boston Massacre, and the Revolutionary War. Of the Events leading up to the American Revolution, I think the Tea Act and the Stamp Act most influenced the colonists to declare their Independence from Great Britain. The colonist got every upset with both of the acts and the colonies changed so much from them trying to make it better but it just made it worse. Britain taxed the colonies because they did not want to pay the taxes for themselves. I think this would make me very upset and mad because you would have to pay extra. During the Tea Act people got so frustrated that they dressed up as Indians and threw all the Tea into the Boston Harbor. For the Stamp Act, people boycotted and created a secret society called the Sons of Liberty and scared the tax collectors. Both of these acts stripped away most of their independence.
ReplyDeleteI think that the creation of the American flag declared the colonies independence because it represented that they are one nation not 13 seperate colonies. I also think the production of the Decleration of Independence shows that you dont have to live a certain way you can live how you choose.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party were the events that most influenced the colonist to break free from Great Britain in this clip. I think that the Boston Massacre was one of the influences for the colonists to become independent because it angered many people. Some people like Paul Revere took action and made paintings and wrote letters that were published in the newspaper. People saw these and started to really want to break free from Britain.
ReplyDeleteThe Boston Tea Party showed the colonists taking a step towards independence. They were sick of Britain’s taxes and took action. After dumping boats of tea into the harbor the king replied with what the colonists called the Intolerable Acts. This led to the American Revolution.
Wow! That was an incredibly powerful video with one heck of a compelling message. I feel that this really depicts the true meaning of the Revolution. To be brave and courageous enough to fight for one’s country’s liberty is a heroic act whose valiance fails to diminish with the ongoing of time. Even after more than two hundred years of the Revolution, we are still awed by the audacity of the epic people who fought for our country’s independence and their contributions to the making of this incredible nation that we are so blessed to live in today. One image in the video shows the Boston Tea Party. Before that, we were shown the warning for consequences you will face if you oppose the Stamp Act, “Do not even ponder the thought of selling or trading goods without THE ROYAL STAMP. If you choose to disobey this law a severe penalty will be paid,” it reads. One can just imagine the consequences of rebelling against the tax on tea. To do what the colonists did during the Boston Tea Party must have been quite daring and frightening for them, not knowing exactly what they were getting themselves into. However, they still did it. Why? Because they would not have stopped at nothing to achieve liberty and freedom from Great Britain -even if that means a severe penalty. I truly admire the bravery of these people. They fought for what they believed in, and that’s what the Revolutionary War is all about. To them, they were no longer a part of England’s property. They felt England had no right to tax them, whether on stamps or on tea. The tax on tea was beyond what they would allow. It was the last straw for them. They had to show Britain that they were strong enough to fight for their liberty, which would pass on in history to be one of the most inspiring wars ever fought. Even though tension had already occurred before that, I think the tea taxes were what really pushed them to the limit. After the Boston Tea Party, the punishments they faced were nothing more to them than a mere challenge of authority. They became even more aggravated at Parliament for thinking that Great Britain still held the power over America. In time, the Boston Tea Party will soon become known as one of the most preeminent events of the Revolution. Our heroes have fought, and they have fought well, for without them, what is the chance of me being here, in this beautiful nation, writing this today? God bless America!(:
ReplyDeleteI loved it Ms Hettinger! it was awesome told us about our time and how much time we had to take out the British and the pictures were a master piece probably my favorite parts were the battle scenes!!!
ReplyDeleteIn this video of the American Revolution, its major focus is on the battles and losses of the war. The Americans did not want war but they were willing to fight for independence. The video shows many examples of why the colonists struck out against the British. The video shows a picture of the Tea tax in the first minute and one of the Stamp Act. It also shows the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. The Commander-in-Chief, George Washington, of the Continental Army led his troops through many hardships. Many pictures do accurately show the way people fought in the line tactic. The final picture of George Washington shows that America did lose men to become what it is today.
ReplyDeleteThe British put all these taxes on the colonists for a war that they weren’t in. I would mad if some did that to me. I would see why the settlers would too. Besides they went there to get away from Britain, not to become prisoners to them.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the video above I think the taxes, Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, and the red coats imposing on the colonies. I think the taxes effected the making of the Declaration of Independence because of the stamp act. Colonists were angry about Britain putting taxes on their belongs because Britain was in debt. I think that the Boston Massacre affected the colonists because they were fighting over the way they were being treated. The Boston Tea Party is a good example of how the people felt on the tax over tea. The colonists felt that they came to America to live in a "free country" a Britain was not allowing that. I think that when the colonies representatives decided that it was time for a free country was a perfect time. All of these events led up to the making of the Declaration of Independence.
ReplyDeleteI thought this video was fairly interesting. The video showed events such as the Boston Tea Party, the Declaration of Independence being written, the American flag being sewed by Betsy Ross, and the Revolutionary War itself. One of the most important events that happened leading up into the American Revolution was the Boston Tea Party. This is my opinion because this act shows Britain just how stubborn the colonists are. I personally applaud the colonists for acting this way. They have a complete right to do that. The colonists left Great Britain for America to be somewhat free and rule their own lives for a change. The British have no right whatsoever to rule the colonies overseas. The colonists no longer live in Britain, so they should not have to abide by Britain's rules or pay the taxes brought upon them. What the colonists did that night was a brave and risky action. They may have even risked their lives. When the colonists dumped the tea into the harbor, they showed Britain that they are not afraid to stand up and defend themselves.
ReplyDeleteAmerican history is not my forte however I know a couple of things about it; The major thing I say that made them not get along was a one-two-blow: first of all they evicted many of the frontiersmen in the Appellation Mountains. The second is the taxes from the British crown. One of these things would be fine on its own; however together it was a recipe for rebellion. Then, it was simple cause and effect. The taxes were lowered but still not enough for colonists they had their Boston Tea Party. This was an unacceptable thing to do to the British so they made put in place the coercive acts (AKA the intolerable acts). These acts said that Boston harbor was to be closed until the debt could be paid off. The colonists were understandably outraged so some of them started harassing some British officers. As a result the Boston massacre occurred. So this made the English pass the Townshed Act (it put in place a curfew and you had to house a soldier instead of putting them in the barracks). It made many people angry which caused many people to take up arms. the British disliked this so they went to Concord and had a battle with militia this was the point of no return. So that is the reason that I say that they wanted separation from England.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say that The Boston Tea Party would be considered one of the largest influences when it came to the start of the war.
ReplyDeleteIt could be considered one of the first big acts against the British. It showed that everyday colonists had been through enough and wanted England to dispose of the taxes. The Boston Tea Party was the first real rebellious move that the British acknowledged. It was the first impact taken seriously, and it led to many other revolts.
Out of all the tyrannical events leading up to the revolution, I think the most influential was the Coercive, or Intolerable acts. The Boston massacre was a huge blow to the British support from the colonists, but I believe forcing the colonists to house, what they believed to be alien soldiers, and closing the port of Boston “was the final insult to the colonies.
ReplyDeleteI think that the biggest thing that caused the colonists urge for independence was that of tax.If it was tax on tea, a day to day use, causing the Boston MASSACRE, or if it was the Stamp Acts causing a stamp to be paid for to purchase day to day paper items. Especially the Townshend Acts that caused a tax on every day-to-day item including paper, lead, or tea again. This made it seem that Britain owned them and had the right to do whatever they want to the colonies. The Intolerable Acts or the Coercive Acts also further proves this point.
ReplyDeleteThe descrpition was right, this video was awesome! The music made it sound so epic! Some of the events that I noticed were the red coats and the colonists facing off, the Boston Tea Party, the Stamp Act, and the Tea Act. Personally, I think that the Boston Tea Party was the event that most influenced the colonists to start rebelling against the British. This was the first real act of righteousness that showed people standing for what they believe in, and to fight what's unjust and unfair. This was also something poeple could look at, and go like, "Huh. If they are able to rebel, then I should be too." Of course the Britsh didn't like it, and passed the coersive acts, but that just let people get angrier, which was a bad move on their part. Without the Boston Tea Party, people might have just sat there and taken it instead of fianally standing up, and saying, "We don't like what you're doing to us, so we're going to do something about it." I stand by my statement with confidence that other people who read this will agree with me on this.
ReplyDeleteSome of the events pictured in the video were the Boston Massacre, Bengiman Franklin flying the kite, The Boston Tea Party, Revolutionary war, the making of the Declaration of Independence, and many others. I think The Boston Tea Party was one of the most important events leading of the American Revolution because they were showing Britain that they didn't want to put up with their taxes or any of their laws. Another important event that I thought was very important was when men came together to make the Declaration of Independence. This event really showed that the colonists were confident enough to declare independence from Britain, and that they were brave enough to tell Britain that really influenced how the American Revolution played out, in a good way.
ReplyDelete“Some of the pictures that I saw in this video that led to the American Revolution were The Boston Tea Party, and the Boston Massacre. The Boston Tea Party was an event, of the tax, on the tea. The Colonists did not like how the king of England was putting extra tax on the tea. So one night, at Boston Harbor, colonists dressed up like Indians, and then went on a boat, on the Boston Harbor. The boat had tons of tea stored on it. Then, they dumped all of that tea, into the Boston Harbor. Later, because of this event, the British soon closed the Boston Harbor.
ReplyDeleteThe Boston Massacre was an event, when the British were getting the colonists angry. Then, the Colonists, and the British, started to have this big fight. This is what started the Boston Massacre.”
The Americans dressed up like Indians and threw tea off a ship which is called the Boston tea party. The Americans were angered by the fact that the British were taxing them without representing them in Parliament. The British and American colonists got in a fight and the British started firing their guns which was called The Boston Massacre, That’s where the revolution comes in and the war is between the Americans and the British. Gorge Washington led the Americans to the British and they all thought they were going to lose because we were losing a lot of people but all that turned around and we won and we got our freedom. We won our independence and still today we are all very happy.
ReplyDeleteI believe that one of the most influential parts of American animosity that led to the Revolutionairy war was the Stamp act. A tax after the sales tax of items on almost everything you'd buy, this tax was a menace to the poor. The boston tea party simply proves that the taxes imposed by the british were a real threat to the livelihoods of the colonial lower class.
ReplyDeleteI thought the colonists were most influenced to declare their independence from Great Britain was Bloody Massacre. The Stamp Act and tax on tea did lead up to this fury. The taxing was a smart on Britain’s part, but all at the same time, it’s also not a very smart move. They were taxing colonists in America for Britain’s war payment. Everyone buys the paper to see what’s happening on the news, so therefore the British will get a lot of money. But, it’s not smart because that’s going to make colonist rebel. Also, Britain taxed tea which everyone drinks. That made the colonist furious, so they dumped millions of tea in the port, the Boston Tea Party. So, that’s when the colonists got very angry and decided to actually fight, therefore, the Bloody Massacre occurred. That’s when the idea must have come to have independence. That’s what I believe to what made want to declare independence.
ReplyDeleteThis video showed us many events that led to the developmet of this country such as the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, the Declaration of Independence, the war between the Patriots and the Loyalists, and Mrs. Washington creating the United States flag at the end. I believe the two most important things this clip showed about the colonists becoming independent from Great Britain were the Declaration of independence and the war between the Patriots and the Loyalists were the key parts to the development of this country. I can't begin to imagine what all of our lifes would be like if the patriots wouldn't have defeated the Loyalists in the war or if the Declaration of Independence was never written . We are very lucky to be an independent country.
ReplyDeleteThere were many events pictured in this video that lead up to the American Revolution. Some include The Tea Act which resulted in the Boston Tea Party, the Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre, and the writing of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. There was also the First Continental Congress and Second Continental Congress.I think the event that influenced colonists the most were all of the acts that the British passed. These included the the Stamp Act, Tea Act, Sugar Act, the Townshend Acts, and the Intolerable Acts. I believe that these were the most influential because it probably made the colonists really angry how Parliament kept passing law after law. It also shows how much they wanted to declare their independence because of the actions colonists took againts these acts. Everything the colonists did at that time was to declare their independence from Great Britain, and in my opinion, they were all very important.
ReplyDeleteIn my mind I see there are three main events that influenced the colonists want to fight for their Independence from Great Britain. The First main reason I believe is the Tax on the colonists’ tea. When Great Britain taxed them it upset the Colonists causing them to disguise as Indians and dump 340 tea chests into the Boston Harbor. The second reason I see is The Royal Stamp, which was an act requiring colonists to pay for an official stamp, or seal, when paper items were purchased. This was just adding more water to the already full glass of Revolution. There was another effect to this tax, the colonist created a series of resolutions that is published starting with the stamp act and how it violates the rights of the colonists. Finally the Boston Massacre, which I thing is the one that makes things spill over, this caused many colonists to protests and bring all soldiers involved in massacre to trial.
ReplyDeleteI personally believe that the “taxation without representation” was what had the most influence on the colonists to revolt. The video shows how the tax on tea caused the Boston Tea Party. At first, it shows colonists living out their daily lives. The music got much more dramatic when it showed some pictures of the taxes. Then, the music got a little adventurous when it showed parts of the war. This might have inspired the colonists to fight for revolution.
ReplyDeleteThere were multiple events shown in the video, the ones most pointed out, are the Boston Tea Party, the writing of the Declaration of Independence, General George Washington crossing the Delaware River, the Stamp Act, the Boston Massacre, Betsy Ross making the first American Flag, multiple scenes of fights between the Americans and British. It think the events that led to the Revolution, were first, the Boston Massacre, that began to build tension, then the Stamp Act, since the colonists didn’t want to be told what to do, by a ruler that was hundreds of miles away, and lastly, the Tea Act, since it was ludicrous to have a tax on tea, even more so, to have one by a ruler, that they neither wanted, nor deserved.
ReplyDeleteI believe the events that influenced the colonist to declare independence the most was the taxation of the colonies and the Boston tea party. I believe this because the taxation of the colonies stared the conflict with Great Britain. Colonist started to doubt the British government. I also think the Boston tea party was a big influence too because this was the first event where colonist took more aggressive action against the British. Conflicts like this eventually started the revolutionary war.
ReplyDeleteDuring the Revolution times seemed tough for the families of soldiers in battle. In the video I saw pictures of women by themselves helping the children. For the men on the other hand they had to fight the fighting seemed brutal. They served there country well because they never gave up in what they believed in. I also saw that they wrote many documents such as the Decleration of Independence and wrote many drafts befor they puclished the real thing.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing that I saw was that they had to pay taxes. Women also ran farms and in the Winter their farms would die.
General Washington led his troops into hard times such as cold winters and sailing across rivers. I also noticed that the Patriots were outnumbered by the red coats. They also had battles on sea.
Finally, the Patriots were very happy and the people in the colonies also were to.But, when soldiers died or didn't come home they were sad.
I think that the event in the video that led to the colonists to declare their independence from Great Britain the most was the taxes. One tax, the Tea Act, taxed the tea. The colonists did not like this tax because they never had a say on whether to be taxed or not because they did not have any representatives in parliament. I believe that if the colonists had a say in any of the taxes, and voted yes on them, then they would have been fine with it. However, it was because they had no representatives in parliament that they opposed having a tax on anything, especially tea. At first they tried to be civilized, and asked the British sailors, who harbored their ships filled with tea, to leave. Even after being asked, the sailors refused to leave. Measures had to be taken to defy the British. On December 16, 1773, colonists disguised as indians snuck onto the boats and dumped all of the tea chests into the harbor. Many ran screaming, "the harbor is a teapot tonight".
ReplyDeleteAnother event that led to the American Revolution was the Boston Massacre. Armed British soldiers were everywhere in Massachusetts, and the colonists resented them being there. British sentries were stationed when an angry mob of colonists confronted the soldiers. The colonists knew that the soldiers were not allowed to fire into an unarmed crowd, so they threw snowballs and insults at the British officers. Eventually the British started to fire into the crowd, killing three men instantly and wounding two. The soldiers were tried for murder and hanged, while the soldiers who accidentally shot were branded on the hand. Paul Revere painted a picture of the event called, "The Bloody Massacre Perpetrated in King Street". This also helped fuel the fire of hatred for Britain.
In this video, I saw the Boston Tea Party and that it was a big deal to the colonists. Also, I saw the Boston Massacre. I think that the Boston Massacre influenced the colonists the most to declare independence from Britain because the British soldiers actually killed some colonists-it wasn’t like the Stamp Act where they didn’t actually kill anybody. Because of this, I think that the colonists became mad leading to them declaring independence from Britain. Besides this, I saw General Washington leading the colonial troops in the war.
ReplyDeleteSome of the events that I saw in the video were The Declaration of Independence, The Boston Tea Party, The Boston Massacre and The Revolutionary War. The event that I think most influenced the colonists to want to declare their independence from Great Britain was, The Declaration of Independence because, first of all, the title of the document is The Declaration of Independence. Second of all, it is basicly saying that the 13 colonies that were at war with Great Britain are now independent states. Thomas Jefferson wrote this, declaring independence from Great Britain. Lastly, the declaration stated the independence of the United States by listing complaints against Kind George the Third. The Declaration of Independence defiantly is the even that most influenced the colonists to declare their independence from Great Britain.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, the events leading up to the American Revolution were on the British. I think the British are to blame for over taxation and tyranny. Some examples are the stamp act and the tea tax, even if the acts only affected the rich, they could get the poor into enough of a ruckus they would care. I think these events led up the revolution.
ReplyDeleteSome of the events discussed in the video were: taxing, Stamp Act, Boston Tea Party, Declaration of independence, and plenty of battles/wars. I think the most influential event that made the colonists want to declare their independence from Great Britain was the Boston Tea Party. It was one of their first major rebellions and I think they enjoyed sticking up for what they believed in. Therefore, it led to more and more rebellions later on, such as becoming independent all together. Also, it shows that they weren’t going to listen to and be controlled by Britain’s king anymore either.
ReplyDeleteThe American Revolution has truly shaped the history of America, as shown in this video. Throughout this video, we can clearly tell that the colonists were angry with the British for many reasons. Why were they so furious? First of all, the British had already limited the rights of the colonists and began taxing the colonists on many materials pertaining to the Sugar Act (molasses and sugar), the Stamp Act (paper materials), and many other mentionable items. Right off the bat, in my opinion, the want for freedom in their rights and to abolish the taxes was a major motive for the colonists to declare their independence. The taxation on tea certainly infuriated many colonists leading up to the Boston Tea Party, or where colonists dressed as Indians and invaded British ships carrying tea to dump that product into the harbor. As a result, the British king at the time punished the colonists by making them pay off the tea. Down the time line, disputing occurred between the colonists, especially during the occurrence of the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was a short fight between the colonists and the British soldiers, leaving three colonists dead. This event was labeled the Boston Massacre to raise awareness that the British were bad news. With all of these events, no wonder the colonists wanted independence! Now the colonists who wanted independence from Great Britain were Patriots, and they began drafting the Declaration of Independence. The British and Patriots go to war. They both suffer losses and victories along the way, but in the end, the American’s end on top. To resolve the war, the Treaty of Paris was created to tie up the loose ends of the war and create peace between the now two independent countries.
ReplyDeleteThe colonials came to America to have their own rights and live fairly. When the British started to tax their tea the colonists protested by dumping it the harbor. Britian also made a tax called the stamp act. The colonials don't like that Britian was imposing their laws in a country where they are supposed to be free of Britain. Now thay wanted indapendance, liberty and to be completely free from Britain.
ReplyDeleteOne of the events shown in the video is the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party is when all of the colonists dressed up as Indians and threw the tea off of the boats in into the Boston Harbor. They did this because they did not want to pay the tax for tea, as the British forced them to do so. It is shown in the video with drawn pictures of the colonists throwing the tea off of the boat. Another event in the video was the Boston Massacre. This was a fight that broke out when a British and a colonist started arguing. The redcoat then shot the colonist and got everyone rallied up. This event is shown in the video by Paul Revere’s picture he drew and posted in the local newspaper. I believe that all the taxes Britain was putting on the colonists really made them want to separate from Britain. First of all, they came to America because they wanted to have independence. Now that they are in American, Britain is still trying to control them with taxes. Also, the Americans keep rebelling and boycotting the taxes, but the British just keep adding more. In conclusion, I believe that taxes were the final straw for the colonists to declare their independence from Britain.
ReplyDeleteI think the different acts made the colonists declare independence. I think they didn't like being controlled by Britain and being taxed. Like the Stamp Act, many colonists didn't like it because they were charged for for simple paper products. Also they probably wanted independence mainly because the whole point in making they voyage was to find the New World, to be free.
ReplyDeleteI think the events leading up to the American Revolution that most influenced colonists to want to declare their independence from Great Britian included the Tea Act and the Boston Tea Party. The Tea Act allowed British East Inia Company to sell tea directly yo yhe colonists, but many colonial merchants feared it would put them out of business, so they united against the Tea Act. The ships bringing the tea were ordered to leave, but they refused. This event led to the Boston Tea Party, where 340 tea chests were dumped into Boston Harbor. Also events like the Sugar Act- passed to raise money from the colonies; the Stamp Act- taxed newspapers, licenses, and colonial paper products; the Boston Massacre- British soldiers fired into a crowd of colonists, killing five men; and the Intolerable Acts- which were also known as the Coercive Acts; and the Townshend Acts- passed on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea led up to the American Revolution.
ReplyDeleteI think that the events taken during the Revolutionary War lead to what nation we are today. We are strong, independent, caring, and a almost peaceful state. We didn't like the though of the British taking advantage of our money and families; so we decided to rebel so that we can have our own rights. We were lead by the great man(George Washington) who made this all possible. We dumped overpriced tea in to the harbor of Boston because we absolutely refused to put with this nonsense. We care about each other. We had the Sugar Act to raise money for food supplies and weaponry. We are the the 50 states who are independent and who all enemies fear of our power that we've unleashed during Revolutionary War, WWI, and WWII. We are the nation that's unstoppable. We are the United States of America.
ReplyDeleteIn the video one of the many events showed was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was basically when colonists, dressed up as indians, threw all this tea over board into the Boston Harbor because they were all furious at the British that were making them pay for tea plus tax. I believe that this one of the events that led all these colonists to finally say enough is enough and lets declare independence from these idiots. Another event that i believe plays a big part in this whole discussion is the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre is an event that took place when a colonist and a British soldier started to argue. This led into chaos and eventually death for the colonists. This chaotic fight made the colonists extremely mad and they finally had enough of the British, like I had said before. I mean whats the point of even going to America searching for independence, if the British are just going to follow these people to the United States and just tax them all day, make even more harsh rules against them and prevent freedom? The colonists finally had to stand up for their own independence and liberty or else their lives would be miserable forever.
