In the cartoon its a picture of uncle sam holding a balance with the statue of liberty on one end and the a blindfolded lady with a scale. I think that Uncle Sam represents the US, the statue of liberty represents the freedom of the people, and that the lady with the scale represents the need for order in modern society. The message i believe is that the US is having a difficult time balancing the freedom of the people and order. It pertains to modern government because it shows we walk the line in politics of letting the people be free and order.
ReplyDelete1) In the picture, I think that the person with the hat is representing the presidential branch. I think that the lady dressed as the Statue of Liberty is symbolizing liberty for our country. The lady with the blindfold is symbolizing order of law in my opinion.
ReplyDelete2) The message of the cartoon is that our country has a strong presidential branch, liberty, and strong laws.
3) I think that the picture relates to American government and all of the branches.
Lady Liberty holding the torch is representing the Legislature Brach of Government. The Judicial is represented by the lady holding the balance scale. The Executative Branch is represented by Uncle Sam. The message of the cartoon is that all the branches show checks and balances. The ladies are balanced on Uncle Sam checking to make sure they don't fall. This cartoon shows how the government is still in effect as it was in the late seventeenth century. The government has made changes to make sure that everything functioned properly as time went on. This picture helps people realize that one branch does not run our country.
ReplyDeleteThe woman on the left represents liberty. The person on the right symbolizes order. I believe the message of this cartoon is that our society is getting caught up in money and power, order is beginning to take over liberty. This is sad because it feels like we are slowly changing our country’s way. When our country first started, we revolved around the idea of liberty and fought for it. Now, people are becoming full of greed and power that our country is leaning towards order instead of liberty. This cartoon pertains to our government today because of the economy. Our government is so focused on creating a better economy or at least fixing it up that we are losing sight of one of the reasons that we are living freely in America today. This may be a reason that our country’s economy is slowing becoming weaker. All of the power- thirsty people out there are covering the one thing our forefathers fought for… liberty.
ReplyDeleteIn the polotical cartoon; the woman on the left symbolizes liberty, the woman on the right symbolizes order, and I think the man holding them up and balanced is Uncle Sam, who represents America. I think the message is that its hard to hold up liberty and order and keep them balanced. If one of them became of less importance, the government wouldnt be balanced. And if the other one became more important, the other would be less and the government would be unbalanced. I think this cartoon still pertains to American government today. It's still hard to keep liberty and order upheld in our country.
ReplyDeleteI think i know what each character symbolizes. Uncle Sam in the picture could be the executive branch, while the Statue of Liberty is Congress while the lady with the blindfold is the judiciary branch. To me, this cartoon seems like the president of our nation has to balance the decisions of the judiciary branch along with the deecisions of Congress. This cartoon may pertain to our government today by how their must be a balance between the judiciary branch and our legislative branch today.
ReplyDeleteThe woman on the right represents order, and the woman on the right represents Liberty. The man holding up the balance is Uncle Sam, representing America. The message of this cartoon is that you need to balance Liberty and order to have a strong government. This cartoon pertains to our current American government because if Liberty and order become unbalanced, our government could potentially fall apart. Also, it would be hard to get back on track.
ReplyDeleteI think that the Person on the bottom is Uncle Sam, and he is the person that is the "head" of the United States. The person on the left on the balance beam is the Statue of Liberty, which represents the peoples' liberties. The person on the right is a judicial representative, who is a symbol for equality. The balance beam symbolizes balance of government. I think that the message of the cartoon is that there is balance between the rights of the people, and the governmental powers. American government today is like this cartoon because there is a balance between the people and the government. The liberty on the left and the government on the right balance out well.
ReplyDeleteThe woman on the left represents liberty and freedom, the man on the right represents order and control from the government to the nation, and the man on the bottom holding the beam probably represents the United States. Looking at the cartoon, I kind of see that liberty is weighed slightly heavier than order -just a tad. Based on that, I can conclude that this country takes freedom over order. It shows that though control over the country is important, too, justice and free rights to the people are, perhaps, more vital. The government should not have so much power that it influences or limits the people's liberty. It should only keep the country stable, not violate the citizens' rights. This cartoon still pertains to American government today because our Bill of Rights are still in effect. We are still blessed with the same rights we were granted more than two hundred years ago. The government has brought order to our country, but has not damaged our free will. We still have the liberty to voice our opinions freely. In this country, perhaps we take freedom before order. After all, people speak out against the government all the time.
ReplyDeleteEach cartoon symbolize: the statue of liberty symbolize that she is power full and he can do more than the other one. the statue is giving liberty to people and to everyone in the world that you don’t need to be a slave or what ever thing you don’t want to do. The other one symbolize order and does not give you freedom and you need to do what they say and you don’t have choices and you need to fight for freedom.
ReplyDeleteThe message of this cartoon is that everyone needs to have freedon and liberty to have a good life and to have jobs and to earn money so yea I think liberty is very important to have.
This cartoon pertain to americas government because america has laws and the people have liberty.
This cartoon gives out a message, but in a fun way so more people will look at it; it’s an eye catcher. The woman on the left, the Statue of Liberty, symbolizes liberty; the woman on the right, who is blindfolded, symbolizes order; and the man carrying a plank with both women, Uncle Sam, symbolizes the Bill of Rights. I think the message of this cartoon is that the Bill of Rights is struggling to keep liberty and order balanced. Today, government is having a hard time solving modern-day problems with the Bill of Rights. We are struggling with the weight of things and trying to satisfy everyone while keeping balance. Wow, who knew that cartoons could be so fun, but can give out a message so serious?
ReplyDeleteOne of the characters is the statue of liberty while the other is a guy holding a balance thing. The guy on the right can represent that you shouldn’t put too much weight on each side but you should keep them equal. I think that the message of the cartoon is that you should be fair and that you shouldn’t put too much work on someone else. I think that the guy beneath the two people is holding up a large amount of weight, which can mean work. This might translate to American government today because maybe some parts are unfair.
ReplyDeleteI think that the lady on the left is symbolizing liberty and the women on the right is symbolizing the taxes in our country The guy in the middle is the president representing all of the things he needs to deal with.
ReplyDeleteI think that the message in the cartoon is that the president needs to keep everything under control and even while still defending our constitution.
This cartoon pertains to our government because the lady on the left is representing our liberty of our country and the president on the bottom is trying to hold up that duty. The lady on the right is the way our government is handling our economy. It looks like the guy on the bottom is really tired because it is a hard job trying to keep our government in line.
I believe this picture represents Uncle Sam balancing the rights of Lady Liberty, and the Scales of Justice. I think that the message of this cartoon is that the rights of individuals, vs. the rights of all people. This cartoon pertains to American government today because things like this still go on today. For example, on planes people have done body scans on people, to see if they have anything that might be dangerous, or harm another person. Some people are sensitive about body scans, but it is protecting a ton of people from harmful effects.
ReplyDeleteThe characters are Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty, and scales of justice. The government is balancing out the rights of the individual verses the rights of everyone. It still pertains to America today for example: airports are X-Raying people to see if anyone is hiding anything, but a lot of people are upset and don’t want to be x-rayed. Yes we are still pertaining individual rights and government struggles with the individual rights.
ReplyDeleteTo me the cartoon on the left represents the statue of liberty, showing America’s liberty. The carton on the right symbolizes the order, and finally the cartoon on the bottom represents uncle sam and the balance of liberty and order.
ReplyDeleteThe characters in the cartoon symbolize important people or statues in life. The first is the Statue of Liberty which represents liberty, the second is the order of the court which represents the court, and last its Uncle Sam who represents America trying to balance liberty and order out. I think the message of the cartoon is that America was trying to balance out Liberty and Order and trying to hold them up. This cartoom pertains to American government because of Uncle Sam. He represents America and is trying to hold them up and balance them out.
ReplyDeleteEach character represents a part of the history of the U.S. The Statue of Liberty represents freedom and liberty of the U.S. citizens. Uncle Sam represents America trying to balance out liberty and order. Finally the Order of the court represents the supreme court and how they are trying to over rule the liberty of the people by making new laws. I think the message is that America is trying too hard to balance out liberty and justice.
ReplyDeleteI believe that all the cartoons symbolize something in specific. The cartoon on the left obviously symbolizes the Statue of Liberty. The cartoon on the right symbolizes some type of order in the court. The cartoon on the bottom symbolizes America. I think the message of the cartoon is that America is trying to hold up and balance both the freedom and liberty of the people, but at the same time, i think, America has to keep the laws and the old ways the same in order for people to have freedom and liberty. I think that this cartoon pertains to American government today for the same reason as i stated earlyier.
ReplyDeleteI think that the guy in the cartoon sybolizes the USA. I think the meassage is America is trieing to ballance out two branches that america could take. This represents goverment by the two branches and making sure they dont get to powerful.
ReplyDelete1. The figure on the left symbolizes liberty, while the figure on the right symbolizes justice. Uncle Sam symbolizes the government.
ReplyDelete2. The cartoon is showing how hard it is as the government to balance liberty with justice.
3. I believe the cartoon symbolizes the level of difficulty to do what’s right, as opposed to what the people want
1. I think that the characters are Liberty and Order.
ReplyDelete2. I think that this cartoon means that liberty and order should be equal.
3. This cartoon can pertain to government today because liberty and order are trying to gain more power today.
Each cartoon symbolizes liberty, order, and the man lifting them is the government evening it out. The message is we need to keep liberty and order even and not have one have more power than the other. This pertains to America's government today because when liberty or war is out of whack, war happens same with order.
ReplyDeleteThis cartoon can be interpreted in many ways. I interpret it as the character on the left representing liberty, the character on the right representing lawyers that don’t know anything about law, and the character on the bottom representing congress. The message of this cartoon is that congress is the fulcrum that can unbalance power. This may also show that congress has too much responsibility.
ReplyDeleteI think each character in the cartoon symbolizes different things. The one on the top right seems to show liberty because it is dressed like the statue of liberty. The one of the top left seems to be representing order because it is holding an even scale. The person on the bottom might be representing congress, trying to balance the two top characters out. I believe the message of the cartoon is that it is very difficult to balance out all the parts of the government. There are the three branches (judicial, executive, and legislative) that all must be balanced to make a strong government. The cartoon pertains to American government today because we are still having problems with the government. Right now our main issue is the recession. If the cartoon was made for today on top might be a person holding money and on the other side might be a person with a gun (which would represent war). In conclusion, this cartoon is a great representation of government, but can have different interpretations.
ReplyDeleteThe character on the left represents liberty, the character in the middle is the president, and the next character on the right represents balance. I think that the message of the carton is that the president always needs to balance out congress and problems in America. You can also tell that the president in the middle is struggling to balance out the two other characters. This cartoon pertains to our government today because it is how the way our Constitution works today.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom character in the cartoon symbolizes the president that is struggling with balancing liberty and justice. Which are what the two characters on the board that the president is holding symbolize. The message in this cartoon is that when you hold all of the power you have a lot on your hands. I also think that its showing that the president is trying to balance out justice and liberty. It might pertain to American government today because today our gov is still struggling with balancing things out and keeping things fair. The president has lots of things on his hands and cant balance everything out. He struggles with what he is given.
ReplyDeleteIn the Liberty vs. Order cartoon, I think that each character symbolizes the different people's views in our government. Some people want liberty, or freedom, and some people would rather have order come first. I think the message of the cartoon is that liberty and order are balanced, that they have the same amount of importance. I think this cartoon pertains to our government today because of the conflicts of laws that's going on right now, or the arguments between democrats and republicans. People don't know what they would rather have.
ReplyDeleteThe characters in the cartoon are; Lady Liberty, who symbolizes indivual rights, the Scales of Justice, which symbolize the rights of all people and Uncle Sam which symbolizes the government. The message in the cartoon is that the government is trying to keep the rights of the individual and the rights of the people balanced. This cartoon pertains to American government today because government is always trying to balance the rights of all people. An example of this is with the security at airports. Americans are now being required to be x-rayed and touched at in order to board planes. Many Americans feel that their rights are being violated but this new procedure makes everyone safer on airplanes.
ReplyDeleteThe character to the right on the balance board I think represents a balance of decision making, and the one to the right represents liberty.I think this message shows how hard it is balance these two things as you can see Uncle Sam holding the balance board and struggling to balance these two things, this represents our goverment today.
ReplyDeleteThe characters in this political blog are Uncle Sam, Lady Liberty and Lady Justice. Uncle Sam acts as government; balancing out Lady Liberty which is the individual person’s rights' and Lady Justice which is the rights of others. Government is still balancing these rights, for example airports are starting to take full body x-rays to make sure everyone who boards the plane is safe. Many people are not too happy at all about this new system, some say it is a violation of privacy.
ReplyDelete1) What does each character in the Cartoon symbolize?: the Statue of the Liberty stands for " Your right of Citizen of the United States" 2)What do you think is the message of the Cartoon?: Uncle Sam is trying to keep the see-saw balanced. 3) The message is Checks and balances and it EQUALS TO POWER!!!
ReplyDeleteIn the cartoon, I think the person on the right of the seesaw is “Justice” and to the right is “Liberty”. I believe the person in the middle is “Uncle Sam” or the United States in humanized form. I think the message is that the United States is trying to balance Liberty and Justice equally, without one getting more than the other. It’s signifying that the US doesn’t want too much liberty, or too little, or too much justice, or too little, they want it even, and I believe that, that’s the reason why “Uncle Sam” or the US is struggling with this. I think this signifies American government today, because we are struggling to keep liberty and justice balance, without one giving in to another. The US is trying to keep everything equal, but it’s under pressure, seeing how it could all just collapse, like in the cartoon, where “Uncle Sam” is struggling to balance both “Justice” and “Liberty.”
ReplyDeleteI think that the Statue of Liberty symbolizes liberty, the blindfolded man symbolizes balance, and that the man holding them up symbolizes the United States of America. I think that the message of the cartoon is that the United States struggles to keep balance and liberty at the same time. I think this pertains to American government today because we are still struggling with that same problem; some people think some laws are fair while others disagree.
ReplyDeleteEach character in this cartoon represents something in the government. The lady to the left represents liberty. I think this because she is dressed like the statue of liberty. The person on the right is representing the supreme court. I think it represents the supreme court because in the title it says "Liberty vs. Order."The guy holding up both of the people is Uncle Sam, he is representing America. I think that the cartoons message is to show how the government is blanced that is why they are on a scale. I think it is showing that the Americans voice in the government isnt struggling but not as strong as it should be. I think this cartoon is showing the government today.
ReplyDeleteEach character represents the different parts of the states trying to overrule each other. The statue of liberty represented the freedom and liberty of the citizens in U.S. the order of the court is trying to overrule the citizens in the U.S. so that they can take away their freedom. Uncle Sam represented America and he is trying to balance out power between both the order of court and the liberty of the people. I think that the picture is trying to tell us is that the order of court and the liberty of the people must be equal or balanced not one is over ruling the other. Just to make sure that both have the same power. This cartoon pertains to the American government today because the rights of the people are trying to take over the order of the court and the order of the court is trying to take over the liberty of the people. So the United States is trying to balance these two problems out so that not that own thing has more power than the other.
ReplyDeleteIn the cartoon, “Liberty vs. Order” the two characters on the balance board represent liberty and order, and the character on the bottom represents America. I think these characters represent federalists and anti-federalists, the liberty character representing anti-federalists and the order character representing federalists. This cartoons statement is which is more important, order or liberty? It could also be saying we need to have a balanced government of both liberty and order. This cartoon relates to American government today by restating the policy of democracy.
ReplyDelete1) lady liberty symbolizes the rights given to us through the bill of rights, blind justice represents the punishment we get for disobeying and taking advantage of those freedoms, and Uncle sam stands for the United States, which has to control and balance out lady liberty, and blind justice.
ReplyDelete2) I think the message of this cartoon is that the united states (uncle sam) has to balance out the liberty and order of the people.
3) the states have to decide weather to pass or reject the marijuana law. the states have the right to decide if they want to pass it or not, and if they do they can adjust their laws to the responsibility of the people in their state.
1) The Statue of Liberty represents liberty, the blind folded lady order, and Uncle Sam the US.
ReplyDelete2) I think that this cartoon represents the idea that the United States tries to balance its right of liberty while remaining in order. Although it is sometimes hard, we manage to give our citizens both.
3) People today sometimes take advantage of their right to liberty, so in order to avoid this, our government must keep order. Thus the equality of order and liberty.
1. I believe the three characters in the cartoon represent liberty, the government, and Order. The one on the top right was the lady of liberty. The middle was Uncle Sam and the third was the lady of justice
ReplyDelete2. The message in this cartoon is showing how the Gov. has to balance liberty and order in the country, because if there was too much liberty there would be chaos and if there was too much order it would infringe on the rights of the people so the Gov. has to balance liberty and order to maintain the country
3. I think this pertains to the problem with the economy. The Gov. has to intervene and set some order but there also have to be careful not to infringe on the rights of the people
The character on the left symbolizes liberty because she is the same as the statue of liberty and she is holding the torch in her hand. The women on the left symbolizes that it’s important to maintain stability and keep the right amount of power between two houses in the bicameral house. The message is that in order to have a nice, smooth, and effective government. This cartoon can pertain to our government today because we need it to run our country.
ReplyDeleteThe characters in the cartoon symbolize liberty and order. The character on the left represent the Statue of Liberty and a free country. The character on the right represents a balanced government, which includes the Judicial branch, the Executive branch, and the Legislature branch. I think the message in the cartoon is that our government has to be balanced between laws and orders and the liberties of the people. When the Bill of Rights was being written, they had to find a way to balance liberty and order to keep life fair and free for American citizens. This cartoon pertains to American government today because the Bill of Rights was included in the Constitution, which is still used today.
ReplyDeleteThe character on the left represents liberty; the one on the right represents order. The character in the middle represents the balance between liberty and order. The message that the cartoons are showing is that things should be balance. An example would be the checks and balances in the government between the executive, legislature, and judicial branch. All branches of government are in check or in balance by the other two branches of government.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the Statue of Liberty symbolizes our freedom. The judge with the scale symbolizes fairness and order. And finally the man at the bottom symbolizes America attempting to balance it out. I think the message of the cartoon is that liberty and order is constantly weighing each other out, but our nation is doing their best to make sure they are even, as they are equal in importance. I think the the cartoon pertains to American government today because the question on whether an action is Constitutional, like the Freedom of Speech, or not. Our Freedom of Speech is just one thing that is protected for each individual in the Bill of Rights. As our freedom to speak out against the government is protected as one of the amendments, sometimes someone could go too far. That is where order would be involved, and the man under the scale is trying to balance it all out to have justice and fairness, but also liberty and freedom.
ReplyDeleteWith three branches, a Constitution, a Bill of Rights, and other elements of our government, it can be hard to understand sometimes. Though it can be confusing, this cartoon clearly illustrates an important part of our government: the balance of liberty and order in the Bill of Rights. In this cartoon, figuratively, Lady Liberty is on one end of the scale and maybe a representative of government on the other end. As the base of the scale, Uncle Sam is using all of his might to hold up the scale. Obviously, Lady Liberty represents the Liberty of the people of America and Uncle Sam represents America itself. The third character represents the government, or order, of America. These three characters of this cartoon convey a specific message. In my opinion, the main message is that the government must be balanced for the government and liberty of America to work together efficiently. This means that in the government, powers should be distributed equally among the three branches in the form of checks and balances so the liberty of the people will be protected. This drawing also could relate to our government today. Though back then the balance between the two might not have been as accurate, today, our liberty and government are more balanced because of the more rights we have gained. All in all, this cartoon represents the balance in government required to balance liberty and government. This sketch also represents our government today with the same system of balancing powers. Now, hopefully, Uncle Sam doesn’t have to struggle to balance the liberty and order of America as much!
ReplyDeleteI think the Statue of Liberty has the meaning "Liberty".The blindfolded lady is showing how our countries order and laws are changing everyday. This cartoon to me shows that everyone has there own opinion and that it can go either way. In our government today this cartoon shows the different opinions of the American citizens that the president is making.
ReplyDeleteI agree with 4-5 Hannah D. and 4-5 Taylor K. because they both said amendment number one. Hannah D. said, “ I believe that it is the most significant because without it we would have no way to express our thoughts.” With Amendment number one it is freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of the press, the right to peacefully assemble and the right to petition. This amendment covers a lot and without it we would loose a lot of out daily rights. Taylor K. also said, “ Citizens of the U.S.A live in a free country where we are able to speak our minds and practice our own religion. Without the first amendment, we would not be a free country…” Most of the people who responded said the first amendment was the most essential so I agree with a lot of people for the same reasons.
